Granted, my recent foray into parenthood has seen me keeping some late hours in recent weeks, but I still tend to miss most of the late-night talk shows. And if I do tune in or set my DVR, it’s going to be for Conan, not Jimmy Kimmel. Last night it was my loss, though.
If you saw the show, you caught a rare glimpse of incredible awkwardness that ultimately resolved itself in surreal fashion. Luckily, GiveMeMyRemote.com is all over the story today.
During Kimmel’s interview with Ivanka Trump, comedian Andy Dick repeatedly touched, tapped and generally pawed at the daughter of celebrity real estate mogul and parkland benefactor Donald Trump. Kimmel politely chided Dick and even took the step of moving him down the couch away from Trump, who showed great class and poise throughout.
Unfortunately, Dick didn’t get the message. The last straw came when he asked Trump to “give him a big, fat, sloppy wet kiss right on the lips.” Kimmel jumped to Trump’s aid, calling on security guards to remove Dick from the stage. Even better, Kimmel took the lead in dragging Dick away while Trump clapped her hands and laughed hysterically and the cameras continued rolling.
I don’t know how Dick, who hasn’t been funny since NewsRadio went off the air, finds work let alone gets himself booked on Kimmel’s show. But Kimmel and Trump handled a bad situation like pros. And today, YouTube once again proves its worth (at least until ABC yanks the clip).
