So, I’m a geek

Not that anyone regularly reading this blog wasn’t already aware of this, but I’m a total sci-fi geek. I’ll give pretty much anything tinged with the genre a chance. I’ve even seen “Star Wars: Episode I  The Phantom Menace” multiple times. Yes, it’s that bad. I’m too forgiving, I know. (Though I’ve never watched the Sci-Fi channel’s “Mansquito”  even though that’s my favorite movie title ever.)
So that’s the long way around saying that I’m glad to hear “Kyle XY” will be back on ABC Family (and ABC) this summer.
The show was a little goofy, sure. My brother-in-law and I watched it weekly, summing up the “lesson” young Kyle learned with a guffaw. And sure, Lori’s relationship with Declan and her sometimes best friend, Hillary, were pretty annoying at times. Yeah, and my b-o-l thought the mom was hot, too, which is probably at least part of why he joined me weekly to watch.
But Kyle himself was played to perfection by Matt Dallas  a hyper-intelligent yet completely naive and unassuming young man (though his eyes are just a little too blue)  and the mystery surrounding his origins grew interesting as the season went on.
The last episode, with Kyle meeting the man in whose image he was created, and the teaser that there’s an XX being created whose abilities, one would imagine, would match Kyle’s own, was quite intriguing. They gave us enough information in the last few eps to make it worth having watched from the beginning, without giving away the store and making a second season potentially interesting.
So the good news is that the second season reportedly is starting filming this month, and it’s supposedly a 13-ep season.
So, how about you? Any more Kyle XY geeks out there? Don’t leave me hanging out here all by myself.

Amy,
I love the Sci-Fi shows, too. I still mourn the cancellation of “Dark Angel.”

Somehow or another, I missed Dark Angel first time around. Firefly, too. But I caught up with Firefly on one of those Sci-Fi channel marathons. I want to check out Dark Angel that way, too.
