Movie version of 24 on hold

Until the show goes off the air, the movie version of “24” will remain on hold. Even though the script’s already written.
See, that’s just not good news.
First off, the idea that there would be a movie version of “24” is counter-intuitive. The thing about “24” is that it takes place in real time (OK, we know that no real people could survive a 24-hour period like these folks do, but maybe they take their bathroom breaks and eat a cereal bar when they’re off-camera. It could happen).
The ticking clock is one of the stress-inducing factors in the series. You can keep track of the time along with Jack, Chloe and all our buddies at CTU and the White House. Even if they made the movie a full two-hour flick, it wouldn’t have the same insanity a 24-hour season has.
Plus, the script’s already written? Was Curtis in the cast when it was written? Or George Mason? Or Tony Almeida? Michelle Dessler? So many people have died, is the script obsolete already? Are they going to make it a “this two-hour movie happened between seasons 3 and 4”? Ick.
The one interesting thing a movie could do, I think, would be to give Jack’s backstory. To be a prequel, telling us how Jack got to be Jack. Kiefer’s still young-looking enough that he could probably play himself. I mean, no one is going to accept anyone else in the role. Jack is Kiefer and Kiefer is Jack by this point.
Anyhow, here’s a little tidbit to tide y’all over until tonight’s episode, courtesy of TVGuide.com’s Michael Ausiello. He revealed this on March 28, but I don’t think I ever shared it with y’all. Milo has a brother. Yeah. Milo. And he shows up at CTU up in hour 23. Yeah, wish it was … well, anyone else’s brother. Maybe his brother won’t be such a weenie.
