24 Minutes

The Simpsons’ spoof of 24 last night was a hoot.
Split screens, the “tink”-ing clock, a mole, negotiating for help from a bad guy who’s the only one who can stop the really bad guys  all stock in trade for Jack Bauer & Co.
The highlight, even though it was teased on the commercials: Bart accidentally calling Jack Bauer and claiming his name is “Ahmed Apupi” and Jack falling for it. Chloe, natch, recognizes the prank name for what it is and when she informs Jack, he lets rip a trademark “Dammit.”
Martin as a mole because Dolph, Kearney and Jimbo have his ant farm captive was priceless. And the nuking of Shelbyville at the end was a perfect capper to a delightful “24 Minutes.” (Everyone in Springfield was relieved the bomb had gone off there; obviously, the fallout wouldn’t affect their little burg.)
“The Simpsons” has been one of the consistenly smartest shows on television. It’s had its missteps and lame episodes, but there have been 400 episodes, for crissakes. Gotta cut them some slack.
And this “24 Minutes” was better than the average hour of “24” has been this season, truth be told.

Being a huge Simpsons nut, I’ve gotta say that I enjoyed last night’s ep a lot. The end had me in stitches. Homer and Millhouse in the dumpster also cracked me up.
The dumpster was priceless. When he parallel parked it, I nearly fell off the sofa.
