‘Heroes’ Finale: Not All That?

May
22

It just didn’t turn out to be as super-fantabulus as NBC had incessantly built it up to be. Producer Tim Kring was quoted as saying that the ep would change the whole course of the series. Well, we here didn’t think so.

Not all that much changed. Sylar seems to still be alive after having made his bloody way into a sewer. (Why the heroes standing right there didn’t stop him is beyond us.) The only way to truly get rid of that pscyho was to behead him, not via jab a sword through his torso. Nathan and Peter aren’t definitely dead. Nathan could have let go of Peter and flown away to let his little bro explode all by himself. And, if Peter was still indestructible like Clahire, then he might have lived, although even with Claire’s powers of regeneration, it seems quite unlikley that Peter, who’d probably gotten blown to smithereens, was able to—ahem—piece himself back together. My coworker Robert mentioned that Peter had Nathan’s flying ability, so why didn’t he just fly away himself before he exploded?

And that dimwit Hiro…. He gets to Isaac’s apartment right after Syler has pinned Ando to the wall and announces that he’s arrived. Hiro should have just chopped off Sylar’s head without the hello-I’m-here anouncement. Why did he end up in Japan in 1671 and during a solar eclipse. Will next year’s Hiro storyline have him bouncing back and forth between now and then? That would be dumb—plus, think of all those darn subtitles we’d have to wade through! It’s doubtful that Parkman will die from his gunshot wounds. If the show was going to kill him off, it would have done it with more of a—pardon the expession—bang.

Thus ends the first season of “Heroes.” It’s a unique show that really made much-needed positive and creative dents on the TV landscape TV. Just think how many times it was the cover subject of “TV Guide” and “Entertainment Weekly!” When it comes back in September or October, we’ll be ready. What did YOU think of the season finale?

It was good, I think you are being negative nancy but its your opinion I respect that

I liked it. It wasn’t the season’s best episode, but with NBC hyping it like that it was destined to fall short. Sylar vs. Peter, Nikki, Matt and Hiro? That was fun as heck. That alone made this ep pretty darn good.

I know I’ll be back for the next season, that’s for sure.

Sylar seems to still be alive after having made his bloody way into a sewer. (Why the heroes standing right there didn’t stop him is beyond us.)

They probably weren’t paying much attention to him on account of their own wounds, potential loss of loved ones, and the fact that, oh yeah, he seemed pretty dead. And I doubt the survivors could have helped much even if they did jump into round two.

Nathan and Peter aren’t definitely dead. Nathan could have let go of Peter and flown away to let his little bro explode all by himself.

Maybe he did, we’ll just have to wait to find out.

And, if Peter was still indestructible like Clahire, then he might have lived, although even with Claire’s powers of regeneration, it seems quite unlikley that Peter, who’d probably gotten blown to smithereens, was able to—ahem— piece himself back together.

Unless he doesn’t actually explode, but generates an explosion. Ted Sprague exploded as well when the FBI apprehended him, and despite his lack of regeneration, he seems to be mostly intact.

My coworker Robert mentioned that Peter had Nathan’s flying ability, so why didn’t he just fly away himself before he exploded?

Going Chernobyl is probably very distracting, making the other powers difficult to control.

Hiro should have just chopped off Sylar’s head without the hello-I’m-here anouncement

But Hiro follows the code of Bushido, and like the samurai that he admires, he’s too honourable to do that.

Why did he end up in Japan in 1671 and during a solar eclipse.

Probably the same reason he accidently wound up in the future on two seperate occaisions. But considering he idolizes that samurai who happens to be there, there’s probably something more to it than that. We’ll just have to wait and see.

If anything, you’re not being negative enough. I’m a fan of the show, but I definitely felt that the finale was a clumsily plotted anti-climax.

  5. Jim

    You’re right. It wasn’t great.

  6. Wes

Was a little anti-climactic, actually, and seemed rushed. Also, I had some logic questions:

    1. How would shooting Peter keep him from blowing up if it wouldn’t kill him?

    That brings up this question…

    2. Why was Claire worried about shooting Peter? He’d just regenerate anyway.

Right? Did I miss some important piece of info somewhere?

    3. Why did Nathan need to fly him away? Peter could have just flown himself, right?

How would shooting Peter keep him from blowing up if it wouldn’t kill him?

it wouldn’t kill him, but golly would it hurt. Clair remembers that part. She has a mean streak.

  8. M Merritt

No, your dead on… it was a major let down… As a big fan of the show all season i expected a huge fight between Sylar and Peter, and well, it just ‘Peter’d out’... It had the potential to be so incredible…

  9. Chris B

“Why was Claire worried about shooting Peter? He’d just regenerate anyway.”

Exactly… I couldn’t believe more people didn’t pick up on this. I’m sitting there thinking, “just shoot him… just shoot him in the head, he’ll regenerate in seconds… why aren’t you shooting him in the head? Why are you flying away with him? Just snap his fucking neck!”

  10. Caz B Australia

It was as disappointing as X-MEN 3 but at least X-MEN 3 had better fight scenes!!

  11. Jay

    1. How would shooting Peter keep him from blowing up if it wouldn’t kill him?

If he got shot through the brain it would kill him, this was explained in earlier episodes – like when he had a shard of glass in his head and didn’t regenerate until Claire pulled it out.

    That brings up this question…

    2. Why was Claire worried about shooting Peter? He’d just regenerate anyway.

Right? Did I miss some important piece of info somewhere?

See above, she could kill him.

    3. Why did Nathan need to fly him away? Peter could have just flown himself, right?

He said when Nathan landed, “I can’t do anything”, the point being going nuclear meant he couldn’t use his other powers.
