The mystery photographer who snapped The Office’s John Krasinski alongside LoHudder Swapna Venugopal last week wasn’t Robin Williams, Steve Carell or, as someone even suggested, Rashida Jones.
No, Kraskinski’s “very sweet friend,” as Swapna dubbed him because his name escaped her at the time, was none other than actor Thomas McCarthy.
If that doesn’t ring a bell, then how about Syriana, Good Night and Good Luck and Flags of Our Fathers, all of which the 38-year-old New Jersey native counts among his film credits? He has also appeared on numerous episodes of TV’s Law & Order, Ally McBeal, Boston Public and Ed.

McCarthy and Krasinski were walking along Sullivan Street in SoHo on Mother’s Day when Swapna spotted them from her car as her husband circled the block in search of a parking space and hopped out to ask for a photo.
Anyway, a scene from the movie “The Great New Wonderful” just came to me two minutes ago, and I did a search on it,” Swapna wrote me in an e-mail tonight. “ And lo and behold, I got his whole bio. He is a movie star! Take a look.
The best part is, I get to run Swapna’s photo with Jim Halpert again.
