Though not much has changed, updates do continue to trickle out, even as well-wishes from fans pour in, regarding Jenna Fischer’s recovery from a nasty fall during last week’s upfronts.
The 33-year-old actress suffered four fractures to her lower back after slipping on a marble staircase while wearing high heels. She reportedly sustained no permanent damage and is expected to make a full recovery.
Apparently Fischer, who plays heretofore lovelorn receptionist Pam on The Office, is still in New York, despite earlier reports that she would fly home to recuperate as soon as she was ready to travel.
“But, it’s true: Jenna Fischer hurt her back at the NBC party and she is still recovering in NYC,” castmate Kate Flannery, who plays Meredith on the show, writes in her weekly blog for TVGuide.com. “She is in pain right now, but the doctors say there is no permanent damage expected. I’m sure she will be back next season! Keep her in your thoughts.”
Fans are doing just that, judging by the flood of message board posts to fan sites and TV blogs wishing Fischer a speedy recovery.
“I was so sorry to hear about your accident!” writes a poster at NorthernAttack.com, an Office fan site, who then referenced the season finale. “I’m sure an Emmy nom for tonight’s episode will give you something to look forward to. Feel better.”
“Oh wow, I just read about your fall. Here’s wishing you a very speedy recovery!,” visitor to Fischer’s myspace page wrote following the finale, which ended with salesman/suitor Jim Halpert asking Fischer’s character out on a date. “What a finale! The look of pure joy in your face at the end was wonderful.”
“Jenna, we’re all so sorry to hear about your back injury! At least you did not cook your foot on a George Foreman grill, so no need to be embarrassed,” a fan wrote at the TV blog GiveMeMyRemote.com, alluding to the plot of an early Office episode. “I’m praying for you to recover quickly and fully!”
For her part, Fischer extended her appreciation in a blurb at People.com on Wesdnesday.
“I am very touched by the outpouring of support from my fans,” Fischer says. “My friends and family and everyone at NBC are taking very good care of me. I’m on the mend. I couldn’t dream of a better network of support.”
Fischer’s husband, writer/director James Gunn has asked that in lieu of cards, letters and other gift, which with they’ve been swamped , that fans make a contribution to L.A.-based Rover Rescue, which received $757 in donations in Fischer’s name within a week following the accident, according to Gunn’s fan site.

Thanks for the update!!! And since you posted this the Rover Rescue has over 1700.00 in donations now! Which is AWESOME!
