Galactica will find Earth

Battlestar Galactica creators Ronald Moore and David Eick tell reporters that before the series ends next year, the ragtag fleet will have found Earth and we’ll get to see it.
Some quick highlights from the conference call this afternoon:
• The show’s end will have a definite conclusion. While Moore and Eick wouldn’t absolutely say no to future miniseries or movies, they did say they had no plans for it and the plan was for a definite end to the quest.
• “Caprica,” a prequel series, is not currently in development, but also is not completely out of the question. “Call the network” Moore & Eick quipped.
• The November “bonus episodes” Razor will focus on the Pegasus during the Cylon attack on Caprica, as well as after it met up with Galactica and after Admiral Cain was killed.
• Tigh, Anders and Tyrol were no-brainers for Cylons; Tori was the wild card.
• We find out the final five Cylons’ true backstories in Season 4.
I’ll go more in-depth with fun links and the like over the weekend.
Enjoy and lemme know what you think!

The question is “when” will they find Earth—present-day or at some other period. I’m hoping they find Earth back several hundred years. Maybe they could write in that Jesus is a cylon? Yikes, I may have gone too far!
I’d love to see Galactica find Earth in ancient times, perhaps prior to the construction of the Pyramids at Giza.
I think something like that would be fun.
The perfect end would be finding Earth at some point in our future…yet we have either left or destroyed ourselves. This is the perfect end to the cycle of birth and death.
OK, Adam, I think you have gone too far.
They’re not giving any clues at all as to “when” the Colonists will find Earth, though they indicated not to read too much into the musical choices as a timing clue. They chose songs that they liked and thought fit for various reasons, not to indicate that the Colonists are going to descend on the Woodstock music festival.
Opa Jeph, that’s an interesting thought, but given the ancient buildings the Colonists themselves found on Kobol, it would seem more likely that the tribe that left for Earth would have built the pyramids, etc.
Trev, I like the idea about the Earth of our future, destroyed and abandoned.
Whatever the reality turns out to be, I doubt it will disappoint. Moore and Eick have really created a superb series far superior than anything the original gave us (and I was a huge fan of the original; I have the boxed set on DVD).
What if they get to Earth and the Cylons are already there?
