Is Michael returning to ‘Lost?’

We were all thinking it during the mind-boggling “Lost season finale last month when we saw Locke’s vision of Walt:
Does this mean he and Michael coming back to the island?
Well, sources tell “E! Online’s Kristen”:http://www.eonline.com/gossip/kristin/detail/index.jsp?uuid=c7ca2b22-a461-48c9-9c3d-444798ed50a5 that producers have offered actor Harold Perrineau a spot for next season as a series regular.
The whereabouts of Michael and Walt have been in question since they sailed away in an Others’ boat at the end of the second season.
But the program’s powers-that-be have always left the door open for the characters to return; they’ve even said openly that they’d be revisiting the Michael-Walt storyline sometime in the future.
HOWEVER…the timeline may have been moved up now that Perrineau is unemployed.
See, the actor was starring in a CBS pilot, “Demons, about priests fighting – yup, you guessed it – some evil hellspawn.
Back in March, he told “USA Today”:http://www.usatoday.com/life/people/2007-03-25-robinsons-premiere_N.htm that he was trying to work out a way to do both “Demons” and “Lost.” But double-duty wasn’t looking too likely, considering that “Lost” films in Hawaii.
Then last month, CBS didn’t include “Demons” in its fall lineup.
Perhaps that’s why Walt – WALT! – made a quick appearance in the finale. Maybe it’s setting up for the father-son team to return for Season 4? Or just a tease to remind us that they’re still out there?
We’ll have to wait and see if Michael becomes a castaway again. But the bigger question is this: Who’ll play Walt if the two come back?
Because as I’m sure all of you noticed in the finale, actor Malcom David Kelley isn’t such a pee-wee anymore.
He’s a growing boy, of course, but that means he’s aging far faster that his character is supposed to. We know that Walt was 10 when the show started, and there’s been much fuss over the fact that the Losties’ plane crashed only three months ago.
Don’t remember what Walt looked like when we first met him? Here’s a photo of how he looked in Season 1:
And here’s one of him now:
Yikes!
So what does everyone think?
Would you overlook the fact that Walt’s looking for too old for his age, if MDK were to continue playing him?

One of the ideas is that the island exists on a different time frame than the outside world. If Michael and Walt actually made it off the island, Walt could have aged, seemingly rapidly to the on-island folks, but normally in the real world.
I don’t think they’d replace Walt. They’ve done some continuity errors, like with Josh’s and Jorge’s hair.
I actually have an issue that has nothing to do with Michael and Walt: It’s about how Penny happened to be the person that came through as soon as Charlie unblocked the signal. Was the signal from the “Looking Glass” the signal that Penny’s Antarctic Jack-alike found at the end of season 2? I thought it was Des’ GPS. Maybe I just don’t get the science behind it, but it seems like quite a coincidence that in a 24-hr day, Charlie just happens to catch a “live” Penny broadcasting to the Hatch and looking for Desmond. That is, unless Desmond’s psychic ability is outgoing as well as incoming and she “knew” he’d be there at that time.
