How ‘The Sopranos’ met Journey

So here’s how badly “Sopranos” creator David Chase wanted to use Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing” in that controversial final scene of the series:
He actually told former lead singer Steve Perry what was going to happen.
Steve n’ Tony
Chase must have really, REALLY had a vision for the scene—and it was a brilliant use of the song—because even “close relatives of the actors”:http://community.tvguide.com/blog-entry/TVGuide-Editors-Blog/Tv-Guide-News/Lorraine-Braccos-Daughter/800016859 didn’t know how it was going to end.
But Chase caved when Perry refused to give up the rights unless he knew exactly how the song was going to be used.
And according to this “Entertainment Weekly chat with Perry,”:http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20040769_20040772_20042340,00.html he couldn’t be happier with the results.
(I’ll bet: EW says the song shot up to no. 30 on iTunes!)
And for all of you who haven’t been able to get the song out of your head since Sunday, here’s a little treat I found on You Tube—enjoy! (And check out Perry’s ‘80s hair—yikes!)
