The former “Grey’s Anatomy” star has picked up a new gig after having gotten the boot from the popular medical show. According to “USA Today” (a “Journal News” sister publication), Washington will guest star on NBC’s upcoming update of the 1970s’ “The Bionic Woman.” He has signed up for at least five eps on this version of the sci-fi drama, as a mysterious guy who could be friend or foe to the souped-up Jamie. Washington also nabbed a development deal to star in an action drama that he himself presented to the Peacock network for the 2008-09 season.

I’m kind of bummed he’s leaving Grey’s. I actually thought his character was one of the more interesting ones on the show. Certainly more intriguing than the tepid Meredith. Why is the show based around her anyway? If I were ABC, I’d take a close look at that.
