The Emmy nods are out, and The Office and 30 Rock cleaned up.
What? There are other shows? And they got nominated too? It all happened so fast. Don’t worry. Remote Access will have the complete scoop in short order.
Here’s what I picked up quickly from this morning’s announcement by Kyra Sedgwick and Jon Cryer:
- Both The Office and 30 Rock picked up nominations for Best Comedy Series
- Steve Carell and Alec Baldwin were nominated for Best Actor, Comedy Series
- Tina Fey is a nominee for Best Actress, Comedy Series.
- Jenna Fischer is nominated for Best Supporting Actress, Comedy Series
- Rain Wilson got the nod for Best Supporting Actor, Comedy Series
- Greg Daniels (“Gay Witch Hunt”) and Michael Schur (“The Negotiation”) were recognized for Best Writing, Comedy Series.
- The Office also picked up nods for Directing, Comedy Series (Ken Kwapis, “Gay Witch Hunt”), Single-camera Picture Editing, Comedy Series and a Sound Mixing award.
I’m glad Jenna Fischer didn’t get snubbed. That would have been egregious, as Michael Scott would say, given her stellar performances all season long.
I am surprised “Gay Witch Hunt” was so lauded, given that it was my least favorite episode of the season. It was pretty funny, even if the plot developments were disappointing (and the flashback camera work was kinda lame).

I am very bummed out that LOST did not get more nominations.
