Good news about Jericho

July

CBS Entertainment head Nina Tassler has some great news for Jericho fans and about show’s future:

jericho_poster.jpg

Dear Jericho Fans:

I have some good news to share, which is due in large part to your aggressive and effective outreach on behalf of “Jericho.”

Although the ratings for the repeat episodes on the Network have been modest (not uncommon for the Summer), our preliminary research indicates that 23% of the viewers tuning in did not previously watch the show. This adds up to more than two million new viewers for “Jericho.”

Just as encouraging, this research shows that one million viewers who left the show after the mid-season hiatus have returned this summer to catch up on the episodes they missed.

We still have a LONG way to go. But, I wanted to share this news and express our continued appreciation for your support of ” Jericho.” You have quickly and firmly established “Jericho” as the show with the most passionate and vocal fan community on television. Please keep spreading the word.

Sincerely,

Nina Tassler
President, CBS Entertainment

I have to say, Tassler’s a class act. How many people at the top these days will admit to a mistake, work to rectify it and keep people as updated as she has been? I think She’s become almost as personally invested in Jericho as some of the fanbase (hard to beat these fans!).

Thanks to my Jericho buddy, Jane, for the update. And she also had this to share:

There’s a campaign underway to move Shaun’s radio show to CBS. Mails & phone calls. Here’s what happened when one person called this morning:

“Gotta say this is fun to be calling them again. Talked to a chick in Nina’s office and she said she has had a few calls today about Shaun and him doing a show about Jericho on their site. The first person I talked to said, “You’re not sending more nuts, are you?”

Who’s Shaun, you ask? He’s host of Shaun OMac Radio on BlogTalkRadio.com. He’s one of the biggest Jericho supporters out there.

Meanwhile, over at the Jericho production blog, there’s a photo of Kenneth Mitchell’s (Eric Green) brand-new baby girl and a letter “from” her.

Check it all out and let’s keep up the support for our favorite show!

I have to salute Ms. Tassler for keeping us informed. I’ve never seen any other network do so many nice things for fans of one show. Maybe they’re just trying to fend off more nuts.
It’s obvious from that phone call that they have enough nuts and they probably live in fear of another shipment.
Now to get Shaun on CBS. He is the Voice of Jericho.
Thank you for the article. You deserve a raise.

When Nina posted this message on the CBS Jericho message boards, I was absolutely thrilled and elated! My whole outlook of CBS and the executives there has done a complete about face. Class act is just the right wording!

Truth in advertising: CBS really DOES care!

  4. Denise

Thank you for this write-up. There are still a lot of people that are skeptical about CBS and Nina’s intentions. I say innocent until proven guilty and I think it’s wonderful that she is keeping us updated. I admire her for what she has done and will continue to do so until I learn different. At that time, those who have chosen to remain negative and suspicious get to say “I told you so”.

Without optimism – we’d be lost. Without hope – we’d never have sent all those nuts. Without faith – we would not be watching Jericho right now.

Jericho – You’ll be glued to your seat and blown away!

Alright, Shaun!!!! I think you and Clark were central to saving Jericho. Nina probably realizes it is better to keep someone as talented and passionate about what they do and care about on her side.

And thanks to Nina for the information. I’m having a hard time trusting a corporate officer especially when the words are so sweet, but I’ll take her supportive words in the vein intended. Thank you Nina.

it would totally and awesomely rock to have shaun on the cbs site with a show about jericho.

he can talk about other cbs shows as well. but would love a daily podcast with different people from the cast and crew of jericho.

a behind the scenes podcast and then a podcast about the episode that airs on friday and another one after the rerun.

    i call that a plan

I was shocked and pleased to see Nina Tassler’s latest update. I was sure she was ‘the enemy’ when this all started, but she seems to be doing her level best to keep “Jericho” alive and the fans informed. Her participation and optimism keep us going. Most importantly, she recognizes how passionate we all are about this show and the people who give it their all to make it the best it can be.

I was thrilled to read the happy news from Nina. I am so grateful to her for keeping us up to date. I have never heard of a TV Exec doing this and it is really awesome. I would love it if Shaun would bring his show to CBS site. He would be a welcome addition.

As I mentioned before on the CBS forum, Nina you gave us a shot in the arm with your announcement.
And Shaun would be a fantastic addition to your excellent site! A WIN WIN for everybody!

  11. Sonya

I have to say all during the campaign I thought if I saw her in trouble I wouldn’t have given her the time of day. Cruel I know, but this was like the straw that broke the camels back, per say, when it came to yet another show I enjoyed being canceled. But I have to say, she has really become one of my top twenty people I would love to meet. I would like to personally thank her for all she did, has done, and will do to make Jericho one of the most watched shows on TV. Ms Tassler – thank you, you have a constant supporter in me and will always. We all told you not to give up on us.
Shaun – is a great guy, he was very instrumental in helping bring Jericho back. I would love if he could do a weekly show from the CBS site, but that does seem like a long shot. I will still continue to listen to him on blogtalk, as I am now hooked.

    yeeaaay!!

so great to hear the positive stats!!You can bet I’m opening my mouth and telling everyone I know to watch!! So very stoked about the new season!!!!!!Thanks again Nina and Shaun!!!!

  13. Jayhawkgirl

This is great news, and kudos to Ms. Tassler for sharing it with Jericho fans. I knew there were alot of new viewers out there, and it is great that are being counted.

  14. Jerichofreak

Awesome…best news since Jericho was coming back!!!
    Jericho is the best ever!

  15. Roishana

Nina Tassler was always supportive of Jericho, but she (foolishly) listened to the number crunchers when she (and others) decided to cancel the show. If she had been the “enemy”, no amount of peanuts would have worked!! But she saw what was happening, and with others at CBS worked to get the show back. To go in front of critics and peers, and admit that you made a mistake, is the sign of a true leader, so well done Nina. CBS are treading new ground in using social networking to promote a show, and we need to support them as much as they are support us.

Amy, love your blog and your support for the show!!

  16. Cathy

    WE Jericho NUTS rock!
