J.J. Abrams does the monster mash

July
27

Our favorite co-creator of “Lost” was really at Comic-Con to talk about his upcoming “Star Trekâ€? movie, but he did slip in a teensy bit of info about another mysterious project with the code name “Cloverfield.â€?

He wouldn’t give up the name of the movie with the perplexing trailer, but he admitted that it’s definitely not “Monstrous. (That word was splashed across a movie poster for the film that was floating around earlier this week.)

He did unveil the official poster, though, with the headless Statue of Liberty — which is pretty much the unofficial one, except without the monster tagline.

Anyway, J.J. confirms it’s a monster movie saying a recent trip to Japan made him think that “we need our own Godzilla.

What do you think J.J.’s monster will look like?

I was psyched for this at first, but the idea of them shooting the entire movie Blair Witch style with hand held cameras kind of bugs me. Also, like you said, it sounds like the "Monstrous" title is just a slogan. Rumor has it that there are two other posters with similar phrases ("Ferocious" etc…) that they'll unveil in the future.
