No, my grammar’s not atrocious. “Them” is the scifi series from Battlestar Galactica/Bionic Woman helmer David Eick that I previously wrote about here, here and here.
What is Them? Well, it’s about a sleeper cell of alien terrorists. Whether they truly are terrorists or not remains to be seen, of course. And the thing they desperately need to avoid is being infected with human emotion, as they take human form. It’s based on Michael Oeming and Daniel Berman’s graphic novel Six.
The pilot’s been completed and Eick’s hoping for a midseason pickup.
Here’s what Eick had to say to SciFi Wire, the SciFi channel’s news service:
That’s about a sleeper cell in Los Angeles that’s, of course, made up of aliens. But aliens for whom human emotion is a deadly virus, and if they get too close to it they’ll basically go crazy. And so it’s a fascinating sort of look at the human condition and what makes a human being a human being. And how some of these aliens deeply long for and yearn for the things that make us human. So it’s a very uplifting idea, but it’s also a very violent show.
Want to know more? Well, Tricia Helfer is in the pilot; Rachel Nichols of Alias is a series regular. Even more? Check out this site.
