Office musings: Pam’s back, Hiro’s a fan and someone’s got rabies

…I don’t read People magazine or even People.com, but if I did I’d have been able to tell you sooner that Jenna Fischer is much improved from the nasty spill she suffered in May.

“There are little things all the time that I don’t realize I can’t do until I try to do them, like parallel-park my car,” Fischer told the mag last week, looking forward to the first day on set last Friday. “It’s the twisting behind me. It’s certain muscles that you’re not sure about yet. I’m just going to try to roll with it. Everyone is so supportive and concerned. I know it’s going to be okay.”

The upshot is she’s sore, she’s not even quit ready for physical therapy and yet she’s blessed with a job that requires lots of sitting: playing Dunder-Mifflin’s receptionist.

…This guy’s myspace page has lots of pictures of himself in rather affectionate-looking positions with Fischer on set. I don’t know what a PA does, but apparently it’s a pretty good job. He’s got the skinny on the start of production on Season 4, too.

…Ever notice how you never see Hiro Nakamura and Pam Beesley in the same place? “I also work with Jenna Fischer in another new movie, Quebec,” Masi Oka, who plays Hiro on Heroes, tells TVGuide.com. I play a real-estate agent and I get to cuss, which I can’t do on Heroes.” Turns out he loves The Office, and he’s in Get Smart with Steve Carell too. Who isn’t?

…Does Karen die of rabies? I’ve wondered how they intend to write Rashida Jones’s character off the show in time for her to join the Farrelly Brothers’ new show. According to E!’s Kristin Veitch, “Dunder-Mifflin may be sponsoring a [Name of Office Worker Deleted for Your Peace of Mind] Memorial Celebrity Pro-Am Rabies Awareness Fun Run. Memorial?!”

I read somewhere that the first episode might be titled “Fun Run,” and I’ve also read pretty decent speculation that the expected double meaning behind that might be that some couple had a fun run while it lasted. If that refers to Jim and Pam’s summer, I’ll be ticked.

…Veitch also claims Joss Whedon is tentatively scheduled to direct his second Office episode in October.

…Darryl’s stepping out of the warehouse and into a Volvo in a series of Web ads. Fleece it out, Darryl.

…OfficeTally is so hooked up it’s scary. Tanster is partnering with Kent Zbornak, who is only the show’s co-executive producer to present The OfficeTally Talking Head Contest. Shoot yourself reenacting any talking head from the show and send it in by Aug. 18. It’s gotta be, three minutes or less, no-frills and word-for-word. “How you perform the words, though, is up to you,” the rules state.

…There’s still 50 days until the Season 4 hour-long premier but only 27 until the Season 3 DVD set comes out. I hear they knocked Prison Mike off the cover.

Hopefully, they’ll release a Season 3 Bonus DVD with Prison Mike on the cover, complete with the “Hot in Herre” and “Domo Arigato, Mr. Scotto” mashups.
