We’re down to 43 days until the Season 4 premiere of The Office (and 20 until the Season 3 DVD release). Here’s a few Dunder-Mifflin tidbits to tide you over.
…I’ve been hoping to see Carol Burnett make an appearance on The Office this coming season after the famed funny lady said she was too. But top guy on set Greg Daniels has dashed both our hopes, according to Michael Ausiello.
Don’t hold your breath waiting for Carol Burnett to play Michael’s mama. Although the Office creator considered hiring her to play the plum part, when asked about it at press tour, he acknowledged that her status as a TV legend might prove a distraction for viewers. “The thing I’m a little worried about,” he said, “is she’s so famous.”
…Dwight Schrute gets pumped up for performance reviews and sales calls by cranking the vintage Mötley Crüe . So maybe it’s not a stretch for Rainn Wilson to portray an aging 80s metalhead looking to recapture past glories in the age of emo in The Rocker.
“He got kicked out of his band Vesuvius right before they became as big as Def Leppard or Poison” Wilson tells USA Today. “But he’s a dynamite drummer, and he finds a second shot at fame years later by joining his nephew’s high-school garage rock band.”
Check out the shot of Dwight on skins.
…Sure there are more worthy causes, as some snarky TWOP-types would probably point out, but I think it’s kind of cool that a few diehard Jenna Fischer fans are collecting donations to take out a full-page ad in The Hollywood Reporter to congratulate her on her Emmy nod.
They hope to raise $4,140 in time for the Sept. 14 issue. With a month to go, they’ve raised $194 or 4.69 percent, according to congratsjenna.com. You’ll have to ask them what happens to your donation if they don’t meet their goal. But here’s their video pitch:
