Super Tuesday: TV on DVD

Tomorrow’s the big day for marathon series viewers, completist collectors and obsessive fans of 30 Rock and The Office.
Both shows release their previous seasons on DVD tomorrow.
So you can finally own what the networks gave you for free all year. To be fair, you also get commercial-free viewing, repeat viewing, schedule control and, of course, the holy grail of boxed sets, Extras: deleted scenes, blooper reels, cast and crew commentaries and special features galore.
The episodes are still technically reruns. But if you’re a diehard fan, that’s a good thing.
OfficeTally.com has assembled an impressively thorough Office Season 3 DVD set Buying Guide that breaks down prices and various promotional packages offered by retailers. (Circuit City seems to have the best bargain at $29.99.
For a refresher on what the set contains, check out what Daniels & Co. have in store here. The biggest bummer: no Steve Carell on the commentaries.
Meanwhile, Amazon lists the 30 Rock set at $32.49. I’m probably going to hold off on buying that one just because that money would be better spent on gas for my car. Or baby formula. But when the greenbacks are flowing more freely, I’ll probably head to Target, where I’ve found the best buys in the past.
Of course, that doesn’t mean I can’t update my NetFlix queue in the meantime.
By the way, every Tuesday is a kind of Super Tuesday when it comes to DVD releases. In fact, there are a staggering number of sets becoming available tomorrow, from The Black Donnellys and Nip/Tuck to The Robot Chicken and SpongeBob SquarePants.
TVShowsonDVD.com has the scoop.
