As far as non-season finales go, this was quite good.
Non-season finale, you ask? Well, that’s because they filmed another 10 (dubbed the “back 10”) episodes that won’t air until early 2008. This way, we’ll get a little bit of Kyle every six months or so, instead of having to bear almost a year without our bellybutton-less friend.
So, would that be a season non-finale? Or a semi-season finale? Or a season semi-finale?
Oy. I think I just gave myself a headache.
Anyway, that’s neither there nor here. Fact is, last night gave us some interesting answers and some tantalizing new questions.
So, here’s my thoughts, in a Cliff’s Notes-sorta version:
• Does Foss know that Adam is alive? It sure seemed that way. If so, why all the subterfuge? Why couldn’t Kyle be told? Or is that even Adam? Is it another XY project, perhaps the first one, never taken out of stasis, now nearly the same age as Adam?
• What is Adam’s girlfriend’s first name? We know it starts with an “S.” Did he or she remove the song from the diner’s jukebox? Does she live in the cabin? Has she been keeping “Adam” in stasis?
• How was Adam able to tell that Jessi had stolen from Kyle’s brain? What exactly did she steal from his brain?
• We know (c’mon, no one has to tell you this) that Jessi survived the jump. She had to have. What is she going to do with this information extracted from Kyle? Is she going to turn it over to the bad guys? Will she be captured and it extracted from her unwillingly (I find that hard to believe)? Will she turn over the information so that Emily and her daughter are not hurt?
• I think Emily was being somewhat honest with Foss and I don’t think she was that disappointed when Madacorp lost the trace on Kyle. How exactly did they get that trace? Was it some sort of signal from Foss’ phone to Kyle’s that then pinpointed Kyle’s location? Or was the red dot that disappeared on the screen Foss’ phone?
• How cool was the map inside the stone?
• How happy are you that the Traegers will finally know what’s up with Kyle?
• Raise your hand if you think Lori should have cut Declan some slack, especially after she was finding out that there’s WAY more to Kyle than meets the eye. Sheesh.
• Just how cool is Tom Foss? I mean really.
• Do we really have to wait another six months for the rest of this?
This is what Matt Dallas had to say to TVGuide.com about the final 10 eps of the season:
The first episode of the back 10 is huge. A ton of stuff is revealed. It’s also a whole lot of Kyle coming back to the family and having to explain where he’s been and what happened to Jessi.Oh, and Dallas keeps pitching the idea to the show’s writers that Kyle lose his virginity.
If that were to happen, here’s the million-dollar question: Amanda or Jessi? Discuss.

Heh… talk about a cliffhanger (or should I say cliffjumper?) ending!
I can’t wait to see what happens, but I kind of expect the virginity thing too… I guess it depends on what happens to Jessi. She’s already betrayed Kyle and Lori thus far and I think it’s clear Kyle can’t really hold a grudge too well, but if she runs off to MADACORP with that information, I think Amanda’s the winner.
I hate season finales—even if it’s only a mid-season one!
I have to agree with Paul. I would really be disappointed if it was Jessi. Honestly, I think that Jessi’s troubles have only just begun. Her inner turmoil is what makes her different from Kyle, and I think this comparison is important. It points to the fact that each of us make choices and the choices we make says a lot about the people we are and what we will become. It’s easy to say everyone has choice, but it’s always harder to go against the grain. Really looking forward to the second half!
To the contrary i think Jessi should win. i think she’s
troubled she wasn’t shown any love. her first experiences were being in a burning building and a man attacking her then being shot. i don’t like amanda, she’s way whinny and her part is getting stale. i wouldn’t be suprised if she isn’t in season 3 very much unless they find some way to ressurect her part (so to speak.) The character amanda has almost run her course. man i love this show though.

My vote is for Amanda.
Wow. All the Kyle XY fans come out at the end of the season.
Nothing like a cliffjumper ending to do that…
My vote? I’m kinda torn. Amanda is annoying at times, yes, but that’s only because she’s actually as purely honest and innocent as Kyle. But she has a temper in her. Did you see her when she told Jessi, “Kyle’s with me now!” You go, girl!
As for Jessi, there’s history. Adam and the mysterious “S” were obviously deeply in love. But should Kyle have to follow in his genetic predecessor’s footsteps? I don’t think so. But Jessi also does share very much with Kyle. I think of them more as brother and sister, though.
Oh, and Amanda will be in the back 10 episodes very much, from what I’ve read in interviews with her and others on the show. She may be going to NYC, but she’s not leaving Kyle’s heart (wow, that was really corny).
I have to vote for Amanda for Kyle. I want Jessie to remain in Kyle’s life because I think they can help each other, but I’m with Amy in that I think of them more like siblings. I’m glad we don’t have to wait until next summer for the story to continue. What an exciting ride so far!

I agree with Cole! I love Jessi. I use to love Amanda but she kinda annoys me these days

I know she has yet to earn Kyle’s trust but she is so into Him!She’s DANGEROUS, No doubt about that, and even though she doesn’t “get” trust, the chemistry with her and Kyle are undeniable! I mean c’mon! She is a perfect “clone-mate” for Kyle
She definitely has my vote.
And as for Amanda, well , she hasn’t done much for the story (other than to be depressingly honest, and don’t get me wrong, honesty is awesome, but not so much being sad about it)
BUT
if they can bring back some of that chemistry we saw in the first season between her and Kyle, then she could very well be Kyle’s first.
Jessi!!! Amanda is nice but come on I like my tv risky and dangerous. haha Jessi, no doubt about it.
