I mentioned on here last week that I couldn’t wait and had to buy The Office Season 3 DVD set the day it was released. Apparently, I wasn’t the only one who couldn’t wait. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the set was the top-selling DVD of the week, marking the first time a TV series has earned the distinction since Lost in 2006. Ironically, the set bumped Blades of Glory, featuring Jenna Fischer to the number two spot from its top ranking the week before.
Speaking of Fischer, I came across this item at contactmusic.com about the Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series nominee’s harrowing Emmy experience last year and how it informs her wardrobe decisions for this Sunday’s awards ceremony.
“I barely made it into the Shrine Auditorium because I was so hot on the red carpet… I had to go into the bathroom and literally take off my dress and wipe myself with tissues. “I had to hang the dress on that little hook and I’m standing there in my undergarments, which was ridiculous. I had to practically shower in the ladies room when the show was starting, and my category was up first. If I hadn’t and I had won I would’ve slipped right off the stage from the amount of liquid pouring off my body.”
According to Fischer’s MySpace blog yesterday, her wardrobe decisions will be worth scrutinizing.I’m doing a final dress fitting today at work during my lunch break. My dress is kind of a risk. You may hate it. Or, it might be awesome. I’m honestly not sure. But I love it. It’s not like anything I’ve ever worn before. I wanted to break out a little.
Meanwhile, Angela Kinsey, who was shamefully snubbed by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences despite her masterfully funny portrayal of uptight Angela Martin, turned to The Office’s hair and makeup crew to get dolled up for the big night. In her MySpace blog, she also hints about an upcoming episode (which according to Fischer’s blog is the fourth of the season).Phyllis and I have some great scenes! The PPC is out of control! By the way, I found some really cute baseball hats on CafePress that say PPC and then underneath Party Planning Committee. I got a few for some friends that love the show.
She goes on to promise a behind-the-scenes Emmys blog for next week.
Lastly, plans for The Office Convention in Scranton, Pa., Oct. 26-28, continue to trickle out. The latest is that New York’s own Al Roker will be on hand kick things off from the University of Scranton. Yippee, but still no actual cast member appearances have been announced. OfficeTally.com has reported several will make the trip, but it’s unclear why everyone’s so mum about it.
There’s a somewhat vague but intriguing schedule of events posted at the official convention Web site that includes an Office Olympics, a Dunder-Mifflin Stockholders Convention and even a Blogger’s Breakfast. (Hmmm, business trip?)
