My weekly breakdown/analysis for the season’s second episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm has been delayed by an evening of Emmy bewilderment (Seriously, James Spader and Kathryn Heigl acting awards but Jenna Fischer, Steve Carell and Tina Fey don’t?) and breaking news at work.
But it’s on my DVR, and I’ll get to it in a little while. In the meantime, Curb’s been in the news.

First off, I love Mount Vernon native Susie Essman, and not just because she takes profanity to an art form as Susie Greene. Maybe it’s that she looks so good doing it. How else to explain my giddiness at a report in yesterday’s New York Times that she’ll soon be hosting that lowest of breeds of TV programming: a reality show.
Beginning Oct. 3, she will be seen presiding over six episodes of a new series on Bravo called “Better Half. Each week, Ms. Essman will pit two couples against each other, using the following device: One member of each couple will have the same occupation (chef, photographer, hairdresser), and must train his or her mate to do it.
Sounds nasty, but it is on Bravo, so it should have redeeming qualities. She’ll also be the voice behind Mittens, a tough city cat (literally) in the upcoming Disney animated film Bolt. You just can’t imagine Susie Greene doing Disney.
Meanwhile, Cheryl Hines will be encouraging folks to take the Quaker Heart Smart Challenge. Hines, whose dad has heart disease and recently underwent open heart surgery, is the latest celebrity pitchwoman for the campaign. Quaker donates $1 to the Larry King Cardiac Foundation for every consumer who signs up.
From one sexy story to another, Jeff Garlin chatted with TVGuide.com. Garlin plays Jeff Greene, Larry David’s manager and Susie Greene’s henpecked hubby. He’s a funny guy. Fittingly, the executive producer of the show that takes the show-about-nothing concept to a new level gives an interview that’s barely about anything at all. Well, except for this tidbit…
TVGuide.com: Jeff seems to behave just as badly as Larry, but for some reason it’s more acceptable coming from Jeff. Why is that?
Jeff Garlin: I guess it’s just his personality, which is close to my own personality. The character is totally lacking in morals and integrity  I hope that’s different from me  but it’s an honor to be able to play such a fun character.
Now I’ve got a show to watch.

Jeff Garlin talks about the origins of “Curb Your Enthusiasm, his pal Larry David and his first movie as writer, director, and star, “I Want Someone to Eat Cheese With, in this audio interview: http://www.mrmedia.com/2007/09/jeff-garlin-001-curb-your-enthusiasm.html
