An alternate ending for Jericho

October

jericho_season_2_promo1.jpgCarol Barbee has a plan.

Two endings have been shot for the seven-episode Season 2, she told TV Guide at Wednesday night’s Jericho Season 1 DVD release party.

One ending is if the stars align and CBS decides to order more of Season 2 or, even, a Season 3.

The ending that we planned was always meant to be a payoff for the seven-episode arc. It won’t close off the whole story but it will show you where we would go in a third season.

The other is if it all ends right there.

It gives you a huge mythology so that you understand so much about what has happened.

Here’s basically what’s going to happen in Season 2, Barbee said:
• “The government has broken up into factions and there are several people claiming to be the legitimate government. One of them is in Cheyenne, Wyoming, so the Cheyenne government comes to town.”
• The government is there to stop the war with New Bern and to find Hawkins. But they don’t know it’s specifically Hawkins they’re seeking. “But they know they’re hunting what they call a terrorist with a nuclear bomb. So Jake is going to have to help Hawkins stay out of the clutches of the Cheyenne government.”
• Although it’s a U.S. government who’s occupying Jericho, a U.S. town, “Essentially, they’re going to be occupied.”

We should find out how overall DVD sales went sometime next week; Barnes & Noble had it ranked at the 11th top DVD seller for the week. On Amazon.com, it was No. 63 (as of 5 p.m. Friday and those numbers are updated hourly).

My Target was sold out of the DVDs, and I’ve heard this has happened all over the place. Here’s hoping if CBS doesn’t get the show on the air in the next couple of weeks, they can somehow keep the interest high. Some of the actors showing up on the late-night shows would be a great help on this.
