Stand in Times Square and see Jack on a really big (huge!) screen

For those of you who just can’t wait for 24’s Season 7 to start, you can head to Times Square to see a “special, extended” trailer on the “iconic News Astrovision by Panasonic.” (That really huge screen that’s in every single movie set in New York so the producers can say, “Look! We really shot this in New York!” Even if it’s really on a sound stage in L.A. except for that one shot.)
Sorry. Got sidetracked for a moment.
Anyhow, you’ll get your chance at 1 p.m. Oct. 25 (that’s a Thursday, don’t go rushing to your calendars).
What? You can’t make it to midtown in the middle of a workday? (Bet Fox has news cameras there, so if you call in sick, wear a disguise.) Never fear. You can check out the trailer online at www.24trailer.com.
The first TV promo for the new season is scheduled to air sometime during Game 2 of the World Series, which starts at 8 p.m. that same day.
The daytime premiere will also be shown “concurrently around the globe at locations, via mobile and online in the U.K., Canada, South America, Europe and Asia.” (Because the U.K. isn’t part of Europe?)
Sorry. I’m in a bit of a mood this morning.
Just a reminder: 24 premieres with a 2-hour special at 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, and then a third hour at its regular time of 9 p.m. Monday (Jan. 14), after the premiere of The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
Meanwhile, TV Squad heard a tidbit about Episode (Hour) 5, which might give us a clue as to what a season set in Africa might have been about:
Episode 5 will introduce hard core General Juma who has been committing genocide in the made up country of Sangala, Africa. Rogue Secret Service Agent Vossless will also make his first appearance in this episode. He is in his mid 30s and said to be working for a DC group involved in a conspiracy.
A conspiracy? I’m totally, utterly and completely shocked. That’s never, ever happened before on 24.
Anyhow, here’s what the official Fox press release had to say about Season 7:
Set in Washington, DC, “Day 7” opens with CTU dismantled and JACK BAUER (Kiefer Sutherland) on trial. Bauer’s day takes an unexpected turn when former colleague TONY ALMEIDA (Carlos Bernard) returns. Meanwhile, President ALLISON TAYLOR (Cherry Jones) leads the country alongside White House Chief of Staff ETHAN KANIN (Bob Gunton) and First Gentleman HENRY TAYLOR (Colm Feore).A national security crisis prompts an investigation by a team of FBI agents including Agent JANIS GOLD (Janeane Garofalo), Agent RENEE WALKER (Annie Wersching), Agent LARRY MOSS (Jeffrey Nordling), Agent SEAN HILLINGER (Rhys Coiro) and security specialist MICHAEL LATHAM (John Billingsley). Although CTU is no longer, CHLOE O’BRIAN (Mary Lynn Rajskub) and BILL BUCHANAN (James Morrison) are back for another momentous day of shocking events.
