Drunk driving — Not Kiefer

Daniel Dae Kim issued an apology this weekend for his arrest on suspicion of drunken driving:
I am deeply ashamed and embarrassed by my actions of Thursday morning. It saddens me to know that I jeopardized the welfare of the kind people of Hawaii, a community that I love and call my home. It is my intention to cooperate fully with the police and I am grateful to them for their sensitivity throughout this matter. To my friends, family, colleagues and fans, thank you for your kind words of support. To those I have disappointed I can only ask that you accept my heartfelt apologies. I am truly, truly sorry.
Wow. Well that’s a serious mea culpa, which I snagged from E!Online’s Watch with Kristin.
Kim plays Jin (as in Sun and) on Remote Access favorite Lost, which my colleague Heather Salerno usually blogs on, but she’s taking a much-deserved day off, so I figured I’d return the favor she did for me way back when, when I was off and production on 24 was suspended.
Anyhow, Kim seems to be going the Kiefer Sutherland route, rather than the Paris Hilton route, i.e., taking responsibility for his actions.
Kristin (who has lost a family member due to a drunk driver) summed it up rather well:
I just want to say that I personally find it honorable that even in his darkest hour, Daniel has managed to remain genuine, straightforward and humbleâ€â€and admit he was wrong. I hope that counts for something.
