A ‘Desperate Housewives’ challenge

November
12

Darn Hollywood. That writers strike is messing with our TV addiction!

Because of the strike, our beloved shows are running out of scripts—and therefore, shutting down production until an agreement can be reached.

Among the first series to shutter is “Desperate Housewives,” starring Bedford-born, Emmy winner Felicity Huffman.

Everything was mysterious as usual on Wisteria Lane last night, but behind the scenes, the show closed up shop last week. “DH” managed to finish filming its 10th episode, which reports say will be the last new episode until the strike ends. It’ll probably air sometime before Christmas.

So here’s our question: Do you ever feel like you could write dialogue better than the pros? Do you often see plotlines coming from 10 miles away?

If so, we’re giving you a heads-up on a unique challenge. Once that 10th and final “DH” episode airs, we’re calling on our readers to write the rest of the soap opera’s season.

We want to know what you think should happen to the housewives for the rest of the season, leading up to (what would be) the season finale in May.

So, after that last REAL episode airs next month, we’d like you to continue the story as if there was another episode on the following week.

Here’s what to do:

Post a summary of your “script” on Remote Access. There will be a special entry up on the blog the morning after the final episode. We’ll choose the most creative episode synopsis as the jumping-off point for the following week’s “episode.”

Then it’s up to you to continue the season, using the previous week’s “script” as a guideline. As our faux season progresses, your work will be posted online and in The Journal News.

Don’t get started now! Once again, this won’t start until “DH” goes dark. (We’ll remind you as it gets closer, don’t worry.)

So stay tuned here for more info and remember: Here’s your chance to kill off Susan, make Bree’s souffles flop, kidnap Lynette’s kids or put Gaby in jail.

Put those thinking caps on!
