'Eli Stone' and the strike

Not all scripted TV will go kaput in the new year because of that darn writers’ strike. Some mid-season shows, like ABC’s “Eli Stone,” will likely air without a hitch.
Johnny Lee Miller is “Eli Stone”
The quirky legal drama—co-created by our favorite writer-producer, Rye’s Greg Berlanti (”Brothers & Sisters,” “Dirty Sexy Money”)—was always supposed to launch in 2008.
And because the cast and crew were busy bees and worked ahead, they’ve got 13 episodes completed.
That’s the number of episodes that ABC originally ordered, so it’s likely that the show will have natural story arcs and conclusions—as opposed to the rush job early finales that other shows, like “Pushing Daisies,” have had to cobble together, should the strike continue.
Good for Greg! We love him. Especially because he’s an optimist.
He acknowledges that the strike could kill his other baby, “Dirty Sexy Money,” because it’s a brand-new show and viewers could lose interest if it’s off the air for too long. On the other hand, he told E!’s Kristin Dos Santos that the strike could have a positive effect:
“Maybe during the strike, they do DSM week, and everybody who hadn’t seen it falls in love with it,” he says.
Great idea, ABC! Don’t you think?
