Quick: who’d win in a showdown — 24’s Jack Bauer or Die Hard’s John McClane?
IGN decided to pit the two supercops against one another in its weekly Hero Showdown.
From IGN, here’s snippets on each of our heroes:
McClane:
A simple New York City cop with an uncanny knack for finding himself in “the wrong place, at the wrong time”, John McClane has proven himself over the years to be more than capable of rising to any challenge  be it from terrorists, high-stakes thieves, or common crooks. With his unique brand of “cowboy” diplomacy, his quick wit and occasional out-and-out good luck, McClane has yippee-ki-yay-ed many a motherf*#ker while playing policeman.
Bauer:
Government agent Jack Bauer is best known for his exploits as an operative for CTU (Counter Terrorist Unit). In that capacity, Bauer has saved not just the United States, but also the world, several times. And in doing so, Jack prevented some of the most dangerous terrorist threats possible. Additionally, Bauer has often achieved these goals in a 24-hour period, proving his efficiency, experience, and skill when it comes to the art of counter-terrorism.
My only note  “Bauer has often achieved these goals in a 24-hour period”? How about always. Sheesh.
Anyhow, it’s a worthy matchup, but I vote (shockingly) for Bauer. Thoughts, anyone?
Another 24 note: the DVD set for Season 6, otherwise known as the Crapapalooza, comes out Dec. 4. BuddyTV.com has a breakdown of all the special features, and reminds us that the first four hours were among the finest in 24’s history (and there were a few hours here and there that shone brightly, such as the famed Chloe drops a D-bomb episode).
Here’s what the box set will include:
More than 25 minutes of deleted scenes
A multitude of on-set featurettes
Webcast Diaries
Inside the Writer’s Room
Deleted Ricky Gervais cameo
Mobisodes
Season 7 Preview
