Buh-bye, Jaime Sommers

Given that last night’s episode of Bionic Woman was probably its last (it’s run out
of pre-strike episodes, hasn’t been renewed, is losing viewers every week and, well, stinks to high heaven), I felt I had to watch it.
That’s a shame, as it was easily the least watchable episode of an ever-weakening series.
Take this exchange between Jaime and Jonas:
JAMIE: Antonio always said a suitcase was never just a suitcase.
JONAS: Antonio’s dead.
And he said this to her right after he’s telling her how he understands that she’s lost someone and needs to take some time to get over it.
But, look, I’m not going to flog a dead horse. Let me just say that even if last night’s episode were not the last episode that had been filmed, it would have been the last episode I ever saw. I fast-forwarded through most of it. Thank goodness for DVRs.
I hope Kevin Rankin, who played Nathan, gets some other roles, though. He was a bright spot, even though even last night even his role was in the crapper.
Anyhow, Katee Sackhoff set the record straight with TVGuide.com, responding to reports in the fan blogosphere that she had a beef with Michelle Ryan. (Previous postings on that here and here.)
I have no plans to leave Bionic Woman, and Michelle Ryan is doing a great job. There’s not one ounce of bad blood between us.
I’m glad to hear that, but I have to admit I was surprised to hear she’d been “contractually obligated to a six-year deal” on Bionic Woman. After a couple of episodes, she was MIA and not even a peep spoken about her. (Even the fact that that happened was symptomatic of the issues this show had.) Of course, given that NBC hasn’t said a word about picking up additional episodes of the series, as it has about Chuck and Life, for this season, it doesn’t seem likely Sackhoff will get the chance to stretch her bionic acting chops.

Too funny… thanks for sharing…
My Jamie Sommers is over getting a good night sleep on her sleep number bed!!
Yeah, I’m with you. We watched the first few episodes and just couldn’t go on past there. There was always some “potential” for this show to be a good one, but they never grasped it. THe other night I finally deleted the batch of DVRed episodes we hadn’t watched yet. Guess we’ll just have to wait for the final season of Battlestar to see Katee Sackhoff again.
Well, I’m glad I opted to watch Pushing Daisies (which was on an hour later than usual due to Xmas specials) and Tivo the Bionic Woman. I doubt I’ll even watch it now after your review Amy. I appreciate the warning!!! It’s sad because this show had an EXCELLENT cast, but the writing just wasn’t there for this one IMO. Oh well, it frees up more time for the other gazillion shows I watch…(not to mention getting caught up on Battlestar Galactica. I watched the Mini-series/Pilot last weekend and I’m hooked! I freakin LOVE IT! I just got the next disc for season 1 from Netflix and will be watching it this weekend. Glad I’ll get to see Katee in that show at least, she’s an awesome actress…)
OMG, Yvonne, you so totally can just erase Wednesday’s BW and never look back. I agree that it had an excellent cast; it was such a waste of talent.
So glad you’re catching up on BSG; Season 4 doesn’t begin until April and Season 3 comes out in March, so you’ll have plenty of time to catch up.
I just can’t believe Katee was never “discovered” before BSG. (And, no, 4 episodes of MTV’s “Undressed” seven years ago doesn’t count.
