An unreal amount of reality

NBC announced a few more reality shows for its schedule in January to replace scripted series that will run out in just a few short weeks, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
As Remote Access previously reported, American Gladiators (hosted by Hulk Hogan and Laila Ali) gets a two-hour kickoff Jan. 6, but moves to 8 p.m. Mondays the next day. It takes the place of Chuck, which has been picked up for a full season, but has just a few more original episodes in the can.
Monday (Dec. 3) is the last scheduled new episode of Chuck, though at least a couple more remain; their airdates haven’t been scheduled. My guess? Once the season restarts (if and when!), they’ll have a couple of new episodes ready to go to give themselves a couple of weeks to get back up and running even though they could still go back on the air right away. If the rest of the season ends up being canceled, they’ll tack those two episodes onto the beginning of next season.
On Jan. 4, we get the 1 vs. 100 game show. This is what I don’t get: It’s replacing the Friday episode of Deal or No Deal, which will still air on Wednesdays. How, exactly, does that help strike-proof the network? Just askin’.
The first episode has one woman competing against 100 men and one man competing against 100 women. Bob Saget hosts. Someone will actually win the top prize, $1 million.
Then The Biggest Loser gets its fifth “season” (or “installment”) just a few weeks after the fourth wraps on Dec. 18. It returns Jan. 1 and airs for two hours a week at 8 p.m. Tuesdays.
Celebrity Apprentice premieres Jan. 3 and will air at 9 p.m. Thursdays. NBC’s four Thursday comedies  My Name is Earl, 30 Rock, The Office and Scrubs  will fill the 8 to 9 p.m. hour on a mixed basis.
