A digital pretend

We absolutely loved it, in our house, when Jarod would do a triple pretend.
In the 1990s, there was a show, The Pretender, about a man who helped those in need by … well, by faking his identity and using his genius brain to help them do whatever needed doing. This was really cool in the days before identity theft was rampant.
All the while, he was trying to find his real parents.
He had these double-pretends, where he would pretend to be yet ANOTHER person while he was already pretending to be someone else. I don’t think he ever actually did any triple pretends, though my husband insists that it did happen at least once, but I have to think it would have added to the difficulty level, like a quadruple lutz vs a triple lutz in ice skating.
Anyway, I ramble on about this now because the SciFi Wire had some tres cool news: The Pretender just may pretend again.
Steven Long Mitchell and Craig Van Sickle, who created The Pretender for NBC back in the day, said they’re working to bring the show back, all online.
The pair has been out and about promoting the Sci Fi miniseries Tin Man and Van Sickle said the original Jarod, known in real life as Michael T. Weiss, could end up in the digital series as well.
We had breakfast with Michael today. He just finished up a play out here in New York. I guess kind of the best thing we can say is that we have a timetable of within, hopefully, the next five or six months that we can have something really unique and different out there. The original series aired from 1996-2000 and had two telemovies in 2001.

You know Amy, you just keep giving me more and more reasons to like you.
Thanks for this interesting bit of news, I’m curious to see what they come up with.
Wow, I hadn’t thought about this show in a long time, but I watched it regularly. I too am curious to see what transpires here…
