Jericho’s triumphant return

It’s official: Jericho returns to CBS at 10 p.m. Feb. 12. That’s a Tuesday.
CBS announced it on its press site this afternoon and I’m totally jazzed!
Its lead-in that first night is Big Brother, which is quite popular, and a good move to bring a new audience to Jericho.
Here’s a look at the other new year dates for CBS shows:
• Power of 10, hosted by Drew Carey, 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2
• 48 Hours Mystery, 10 .m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, and Tuesday, Jan. 29
• The Captain, a new comedy starring Fran Kranz, Chris Klein, Jeffrey Tambor and Raquel Welch, premieres 8:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28
• The New Adventures of Old Christine, third season premiere, 9:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28
• Survivor, its 16th edition, premieres 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7
• Big Brother, in its first winter season, begins at 9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, with one-hour 8 p.m. Wednesday and Sunday broadcasts thereafter.
• In addition, the six-hour mini-series Comanche Moon, will be broadcast from 9-11 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13; Tuesday, Jan. 15; and Wednesday, Jan. 16.
In other midseason notes:
• NBC is launching the 18th (yes, 18th!) season of Law & Order premieres with a two hour “event” from 9 to 11 p.m. Jan. 2 and then starts its regular weekly timeslot the next Wednesday, Jan. 9, at 10 p.m. Jeremy Sisto (Billy from Six Feet Under) joins as a new detective. Law & Order: Criminal Intent will air at 9 p.m. Wednesdays starting Jan. 9. Alicia Witt (I remember her from back in the day when she was Zoey on Cybill) joins the cast as Chris Noth’s partner while his regular partner’s on maternity leave.
What does that mean? Well, that means Bionic Woman and Life are unaccounted for. Of course, neither will have more new episodes by that time. But Bionic Woman has had poor ratings and NBC hasn’t asked for the so-called “back 9,” the episodes that would make the season whole. Life hasn’t had great ratings, but NBC did request the back 9 for that, so its future is a little less uncertain. Of course, if the writer’s strike is still going on at that point, it’s all academic anyhow, because very few of the fall shows will have any new episodes left.
Welcome back, Jericho!

Jericho Rocks
Welcome back, indeed!
We fans couldn’t be more excited, and this gives us a good amount of time to get the word out about the new season. Thanks for reporting this, Amy!
Thanks again Amy for getting behind us Jericho fans and keeping us informed. You have no idea how much I appreciate it!
Does this mean Jericho escaped the writer’s strike? Or will it only be going again for a few weeks?
Hi Greg –
Jericho finished filming the seven episodes ordered for its second season before the writer’s strike even started, so it’s strike-proof. But it is only seven episodes. Better, however, than complete cancellation.
Hi All..I cant wait for season 2! Oh gosh the saga begins again.
Who will Jake be with ? Emily or Heather? How will Jericho deal with out Major Dad? Eric and Mary? Ugghh… I realy hope more than 7 episodes. CBS needs to promote that great time slot. Now is the chance CBS!
