10 ‘Chuck’ links to pass the time

We’ll be without “Chuck” for the foreseeable future, but here are 10 ways to pass the time while we’re waiting for the WGA strike to end and more episodes to be broadcast:
“Chuck” cast chats with “Good Day L.A.” hosts: This is a little misleading, as it appears Zachary Levi is the only one among Adam Baldwin, Yvonne Strahovski, Joshua Gomez and Sarah Lancaster to be equipped with a microphone for this cacophony of an interview. Still, it’s fun to watch Baldwin be goofy and a brunette(!) Strahovski move in to almost kiss Gomez in the background while an oblivious Levi is riffing up front. Rating: 4 out of 5 pastrami sandwiches.
Obscure flier from one of Strahovki’s theater performances in Australia: Courtesy of the cleverly named Strahotski.com (a nickname Levi references in the previous link), we see the actress appear in a poster for a stage show at the 2005 Melbourne Fringe Festival. She’s the bespectacled one one on the left and the spelling of her last name is “Strzechowski.” Amazing what two years will do for a career! Rating: 5 pastrami sandwiches.
ChuckTV.net’s exclusive interview with Sarah Lancaster: This “Chuck” fan site did a fantastic job interviewing the actress who plays Ellie. Lancaster talks in detail about characters and offers some insight on each of the primary cast members as well. For example: Lancaster appears to have taught Strahovski some pedicure basics. OK, so that’s a bad example. But it’s a great interview. Rating: 5 pastrami sandwiches.
Early two-minute NBC promo featuring Chuck’s training sessions with Sarah: A bunch of fun clips of the tandem training and talking about spy work. Nothing earth-shattering here, but a fun two minutes that show off the characters’ chemistry. Rating: 4 pastrami sandwiches.
“Chuck” mash-up featuring full version of show’s theme song: This YouTube clip splices clips from “Chuck” and superimposes the audio of the show’s theme song, “Short Skirt, Long Jacket” by Cake. It’s not nearly as precise or clever as many of “The Office” mash-ups that are out there (personal favorite: “It’s Getting Hot In Here: Scranton Style”), but it does show off a few skirts and jackets. Rating: 3 pastrami sandwiches.
Original video for Cake’s “Short Skirt, Long Jacket”: If you like the theme song, check out its simple, reality-based video. The premise: Everyday people on the street put on headphones and give their honest opinions of the song. The best part is when the music cuts out at the 57-second mark and the listener doesn’t know if the song is over or not. Rating: 5 pastrami sandwiches.
Levi joins the WGA picket line: The typically upbeat actor takes a more serious tone—although not quite that of a “The More You Know” NBC public service announcement—while talking about the fight for a contract more beneficial to writers. Rating: 2 pastrami sandwiches for entertainment value; 5 pastrami sandwiches for the cause.
Strahovski on “Last Call with Carson Daly”: Strahovski revisits her go-to story about getting the role of Sarah within a week of moving from Australia to America. She looks great, but the interview’s poorly conducted; Daly seems bored with himself. Rating: 2 pastrami sandwiches.
Levi and Gomez chat briefly at Guitar Hero III launch party: At the 1:03 mark, there’s a short interview with the duo that starts with Levi saying it’s surreal to be seen on so many billboards and Gomez mocking him for saying such a thing. Rating: 2 pastrami sandwiches due to brevity of their appearance.
Final opportunity to vote “Chuck” as best new comedy for People’s Choice Awards: The show is up against two heavyweights: “Samantha Who?” which isn’t quite dominating “Chuck” as much without its “Dancing with the Stars” lead-in, and “Pushing Daisies,” which many people seem to like for the right reasons. “Chuck” probably needs this win more than the other two, though, so do your part and vote for it while polls are still open. Rating: 5 pastrami sandwiches if “Chuck” wins; 3 pastrami sandwiches for the nomination alone.
