A Shift In “Grey’s Focus

Though the most recent episode of “Grey’s heavily focused on patient cases (which reminded me of the amazing early years of “ER) there was still plenty of doctor/doctor action going on.
But first, the patients: The explosion of Nick Hanscom’s (Seth Green) carotid artery was shocking, and his deathâ€â€especially the scene showing his pale, lifeless body. Heartbreaking. What a great serious turn that was for Green, however, who’s mainly known for his comedy work (my fave: Scott Evil, in the Austin Powersâ€? flicks).
Another actor you may know from elsewhere was Gale Harold, who starred as Brian in Showtime’s “Queer As Folk and played the surgical patient with the big tattoo of a swastika.
As for the docs, Meredith finally showed she had a spine when she helped keep Ray the paramedic alive while in emotionally stressful and physically awkward positions.
Meanwhile, poor George was, at Bailey’s request, acting as the messenger between herself and her hubby, Tucker. Geo has a heart of gold, but the future seems anything but rosy for Miranda and Tucker, who doesn’t understand or accept all the time requirements that his spouse must put in as one of Seattle Grace’s top docs. It’s like when actors say they frequently date other actors because they more than we “regular people understand the rigors of the job: hideously long hours, being away on location and all the p.r. responsibilities that go with the job.
Seems like the whole Alex and Ava/Rebecca thing isn’t meant to be. He got suspended for a week for letting her sit in the operating-room gallery and then yelled at her for being unfaithful to her husband and baby. Quit while you’re (kind of) ahead, you two.
Then there are Izzie and Geo. She says that their relationship didn’t work because of bad timing, not bad chemistry. I say their awkward, forced relationship will never be positive and functional. Again, quit while you’re (kind of) ahead, you two.
Bravo to Derek for kissing Rose the nurse, who is less flakey than Meredith and seems like a better match for him. And later, when Mer told Der that she didn’t want him dating anyone else, I couldn’t help but, after all the heart-yanking she’s done to him, look forward to the day that she learns of his smooch with Rose.
And speaking of “Grey’s future, the holiday season and the writers’ annoying strike mean that we may never find out what Mer’s reaction is until, well, God only knows when. It’s a pity for everyone.

Yeah, another review where you bash Meredith over a poorly writen plot device driven unneeded character like Rose who adds nothing (including chemistry with Derek) to an overly bloated cast as it is. Kudo’s for not being partial yet again.
