Major ‘Lost’ spoiler news: The Oceanic 6

December
11

I’m not really one to troll fan sites for tips about what’s going to happen on “Lost.”

Every now and then, I’ll pop in for a tidbit or two, or get updated about casting news, etc., and wonder what it all means. But for the most part, I avoid big time spoilers: For instance, I think whoever leaked the script in advance of last season’s mind-blowing “snake in the mailbox” finale really should be eaten by the smoke monster.

However, sometimes there’s such big “Lost” news rattling around the blogosphere that it’s impossible to ignore. And believe me, this one is a total OMG reveal.

It’s one that doesn’t give away too much about the upcoming season, but I defy you to tell me you won’t be analyzing this little piece of info for the next few days.

Here goes: Who are the Oceanic 6?

That’s right. According to this post on the Spoiler Section of DarkUFO.com, which has been pretty darn accurate in its past reports, this season will show that there are six original Oceanic crash survivors who get off the island and become semi-famous.

Which explains how strangers know who Jack is in the flash-forward sequences that appeared in the season finale, right?

For those who want complete ignorance once “Lost” kicks back into high gear in February, stop reading here. (And I’d completely understand, believe me!)

But if you want to know the identities of the Oceanic 6, keep going and start spinning your theories now!

The Oceanic 6 are…

Jack, Sayid, Kate, Hurley, Sun and Jin.

OK, we knew about Kate and Jack already, obviously.

And the other four are such key characters, it’s not a surprise that their saga would continue off-island.

But now think about who’s not on the list, and what that means.

No Claire and Aaron? Does that mean that Desmond’s vision was wrong—or he was lying—and Charlie died in vain to save them?

No Sawyer? So the guy Freckles mentioned at the end of the finale isn’t our good ol’ smooth-talker?

No Michael? No Walt? They’re back on the show this season, but maybe in flash-forwards? Did they really get off the island back in Season 2? This kind of fits in with some scoop offered by TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello. Does this mean that Michael is, in fact, the man in the coffin—as lots of folks have speculated?

And no Locke? Does the man of faith stay put on the island after all, since he doesn’t want to go back to his wheelchair? Does he become the new Ben, Jacob’s right-hand man?

And speaking of non-Oceanic folks, how about Desmond, Rousseau, Ben and Juliet? They weren’t on that plane, so technically, they don’t have to be part of the group to get off the island.

Or maybe they don’t survive at all?

Elizabeth Mitchell (Juliet) and  Michael Emerson (Ben) have already given interviews hinting at major violence and death in the first eight episodes. (“Lost” will have a shortened season because of the ongoing writers’ strike.)

So let’s go, “Lost” fans! Get moving! The show returns in two months.

What’s your theory on the meaning of the Oceanic 6?!?

wow! I have been away from the show since the first season, it sort of fizzled for me, but I have been hearing snippets here and there. Your report is the first one in a very long time to get me feeling I might watch again
    awesome post, thanks

As a Sawyer fan, now I’m worried about his fate. I’ve been trying hard to stay away from spoilers, just as you do, but this one was too tempting to avoid. ;) Thanks for the article!

I, for one, was not spoiled before the finale, but I firmly believe that I would have enjoyed it much more if I had known about the ‘snake’. This surprised me, because I never wanted spoilers before, but now I want to know everything before I see the show. In fact, I would like to read a detailed description of all remaining 48 episodes right now.

I guess that I’ve completely lost faith in Lindelof & Cuse delivering answers to the mysteries, so I want to know as soon as possible what they will and will not answer so that I won’t be disappointed when I actually see the show. That probably makes me one of the few people in the world who would not be tempted to reveal any secrets about the series finale if I were to learn them in advance.

Just wanted to give one perspective from the other side of the spoilers.

y in the hell is kate NOT in jail!! she is a murder!!!
i hate her. so her mommy’s boyfriend was mean to her. so she burns him alive? hardly seems fair. and she plays all righteous. geesh. jack sucks also.

i want sawyer to live. yummmmmy

Well after last nights episode it is proven this spoiler was wrong because Aaron does make it and Kate has him so he is number 5. Also, Sawyer I believe stays on the island with Locke. That is why when jack was testifying he said only 8 survived the crash. That way no one would go look for them. He was covering for them

No, Aaron’s not one of the Oceanic 6, because he wasn’t actually a passenger on the plane. He was born after the crash. This show is very specific that way. Lindelof and Cuse said before the season started that others who were not passengers on 815 also might make it off the island, it was just that only 6 passengers did.

I love it, I watched every single episode from day one
