2007’s final “Smallville

Ya know, I knew from the very first scene that Clark seemed a bit odd in the most recent ep of “Smallville. I couldn’t pinpoint what was different about him, but at the end we found out that Clark wasn’t really Clark—and may be Milton Fine. That subtle change in Clark’s facial expressions and demeanor proves that Tom Welling is an actor to be respected and not just a pretty face. (Yes, he picks dopey features films, like “The Fog and “Cheaper by the Dozen, but he’ll pick something decent — or something decent will pick him — one of these days.) And I should have suspected that Clark was really someone else when he insisted that Lana continue her exposure of him. Had he really been Clark, he would have jumped with joy over the news that Lana was dropping her fixation.
Okaaaay…. Grant/Julian and that Belle Reve escapee Adrien are test-tube clones and share the same memories—or something like that? I couldn’t quite sort that one out. Will someone straighten it out for me?
Meanwhile, the secret romance between Lois and Julian Luthor/Grant is kaput. Lois, honey, it’s never good to fool around with the boss, especially when he’s a Luther. Hey—at least there was some chemistry between them, unlike the barely-there sparks between Chloe and Jimmy (doesn’t he now want to be called “James?). Perhaps that’s because he still has the hots for Kara, who (sorry, James) is waaaaay out of his league.
Due to the writers’ strike, this was the last of the first-run “Smallvilles for what could be for, well, God only knows. Six months or more. I don’t feel sorry for the writers. I feel sorry for the folks whose livelihoods depend on the shows they work on, such as the caterers, makeup and wardrobe people, the crew members, etc. For better or for worse, there truly is no business like show business.

Um, not according to Kryptonsite.com:
"We have some good news and some bad news for you all. The good news is, there are six more new episodes of Smallville planned and already written for this season, and there will be even more if the writers' strike comes to a swift end. The bad news is, it might be a while before we get another new episode.
Currently, we are hearing dates of either January 31 or February 7 for the show's next new episode, "Persona." That episode should be a big one as it not only shows what happens after the "Gemini" cliffhanger… it also features the return of James Marsters as Professor Fine as well as an appearance by Marc McClure of Superman movie fame."
There are 5 episodes with finished scripts that are still in production…
That wasn't Milton Fine aka Brainiac at the end. It was Bizarro. Didn't you see last season's finale and this seasons first episode? And also, the deal with Adrian the escapee and Grant/Julian is that it shows that Lex got into human cloning and that Grant/Julian is only a clone of his brother with memories inserted in.
According to http://svfan.com the next episode "Persona" airs on January 31st, 2008.
It does indeed seem like there are more fresh eps of "Smallville" on their way. epguides.com lists "Persona" for Jan. 31, "Siren" on Feb. 8 and "Hero," its airdate TBA. Meanwhile, Kryptonsite.com has the aforementioned three AND "Traveler" and "Veritas," also with airdates TBA. OK, so my headline was right: Last Thursday's ep WAS the last of 2007, but not the final new ones due to the writers' strike.
And thank you to Harmin for filling me in on who Clark really was in that installment. I get all those bad guys mixed up sometimes!
Jip – its been known for a while via kryptonsite etc that six additional episodes were written before the guys went on strike. So not to be petty or anything, but dude you need to do your homework (and some proper research) before you post stories like these.
