Are you pumped for The Sarah Connor Chronicles like I am?
I can still remember, for months on end in the sixth or seventh grade, me and my friends perfecting our Ahnuld accents: “Saddah Connah. I was told she was heah. May I see ha? **** you, *******.” It was best not to work on that when the nuns were within earshot.
Well, at a time when every other show on television seems to be going off the air, Chronicles is set to hit primetime Jan. 13.
You know the backstory: boy meets girl, terminator tries to kill boy and girl, boy and girl make baby, boy dies, girl raises baby to lead a band of rebels against the post-apocalyptic tyranny of self-aware machines.
Well, Chronicles focuses on Sarah Connor’s fight to keep her son, John, 15, from being terminated. It picks up where Terminator 2: Judgment Day left off. I’ve got a lot of serious boning up to do on this show before the premiere. It has been on my periphery for a while now. I recommend you follow my lead and head over to TerminatorSite, which looks like it’s vying to be this show’s OfficeTally.
And the official site looks decent too. You absolutely have to watch the trailer there.
Of course there’s always the reliable BuddyTV, whose Chronicles resources are considerable. Check out this summary, complete with who’s playing who…
As an extension to the Terminator franchise, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles follows Sarah Connor (Lena Headey), a fugitive who decides to stop running and go on the offense against an ever-evolving technological enemy bent intended to destroy her life, and perhaps the world. Her son, John (Thomas Dekker) knows that he may be the future savior of mankind but is not yet ready to carry this weight on his shoulder. Though they are constantly pursued by threats from the future and authorities, they are aided by a fearless protector, Cameron (Summer Glau), an unknown Terminator model in the most human form yet.
As a teenage Terminator whose primary task is to protect the Connor family, Glau, whose credits include Firefly and Serenity, takes over the role made famous by Arnold Schwarzenegger. But on the new series, she pretends to be the daughter of Sarah and sister of John, and also poses as a student at his school.
The way I see it, this show can either be the next Battlestar Galactica or the next Bionic Woman. Success and failure in the world of made-for-TV sci-fi don’t get any farther apart than that.
