Too Many Ads Made Me Mad!

As much as I miss fresh installments of “Grey’s Anatomy,” I don’t miss having to endure all the intrusive ads and network promos. Though I usually hit the mute button, do a quick channel surf or do a minor chore during the five breaks, I didn’t realized how just many commercials there really were until I wrote down the name of each ad during one episode.
Here’s how they stacked up:
Break 1) “George Rules,” Chili’s, Hyundai, Energizer batteries, Archer Farms, “Dancing With the Stars.”
Break 2) Wendy’s, “Night at the Museum,” Olay, Toyota, Apple TV, Kraft, GMA, BMW, Suzuki.
Break 3) “Shrek the Third,” Volkswagen, Lowe’s, Cover Girl, Outback Steakhouse, Tide, Claritin, Michelin, “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” “National Bingo Night.”
Break 4) “Spider-Man,” Kohl’s, Colgate, Verizon, “Desperate Housewives,” local-news promo, Chevrolet, Commerce Bank, Toyota.
Break 5) “The Bachelor,” Johnson & Johnson, “Lucky You,” Energizer batteries, Home Depot, The Olive Garden, “DéjàVu,” “October Road,” “Brothers and Sisters.”
Yikes! A list long enough to choke a horse! And all in 60 measly minutes. No wonder my sister is breezing through the show’s previous seasons, which she’s never seen, via Netflix.

Great Post. I would love to leave a long comment. But I’m pretty speechless. WOW.
Great observation. Thanks for taking on the daunting task and bringing this to our attention.
Again. WOW.
PS: I hope some of them were at least entertaining ?
You want mind-blowing? If you have ReplayTV, satellite, or some other service where you can search for programs, highlight a “Paid Programming” entry and do a search for all the episodes. When I tried it on a weekday, there were a stunning 96 hours of “Paid Programming” on my entire cable subscription in a one-day period.
It makes you wonder why you pay for cable. I no longer do.
I have gotten to a point that I would rather read a book. The ads have gotten out of hand to the point that the viewer can’t even enjoy watching a program.
10 – 15 ads in one show is WAY too many. The programmers that are scheduling these obusive and intrusive crap should be hung!
