Jenna Fischer’s back is healed, but she found that it was too soon too jump rope. Also, she isn’t quite finished exploring the world of comedy. The strike has allowed her to make time for friends. And her dentist. And given the choice, Tina Fey would be her best (MySpace) friend in the world.
But the bombshell in a recent MySpace celebrity interview had to do with her on-screen nemesis, the branch manager in Utica and former Committee That Plans Parties co-chairwoman.
Where is the romance going with you and Jim on The Office?I have no idea. We don’t have any scripts. They were still going strong in the last episode I read, but that is all I know. I heard Rashida Jones [who plays Jenna’s character Pam’s romantic rival] was going to come back for a couple of more episodes before the end of the season, but they didn’t tell me why. I’d like to know!
As bombshells go, this is more like a really big firecracker. We knew last summer Jones would return in Season 4 for a few episodes. And unless you count the passing glimpse of her and Jim bickering, sans audio, in the premiere, her only appearance came in “Branch Wars”.
She was due for a return. We all just thought it would have come already if she was coming.
So Rainn Wilson is hosting an awards show, the Film Independent Spirit Awards, to be precise. What’s more, the awards will have an audience, and real nominees and presenters, unlike some awards shows I could mention.
Seems Mr. Schrute would only take the Feb. 23 gig if the WGA gave him a strike waiver, and he used that waiver to hire the entire Office writing staff.
Here’s some choice quotes, completely out of context, from his recent chat with EW…
On pushing the envelope as a presenter: “Well, I could never compete with Sarah Silverman. I will never be able to say the word vagina as many times as she can. “On why him: “I have no idea why they approached me. I imagine they couldn’t afford Steve Carell, and were like, ”Well, let’s just get his sidekick.’”
On Ellen Page, star of Juno: “She’s a she-bitch. She’s a wolverine on wheels. She’s like a Canada farm girl with, like, weird hippie parents. I think she’s just tremendous.”
On the Golden Globes’ snub of The Office: “But [we] kind of got douched over by the Golden Globes. They love their Pushing Daisies and their Californication over there, those foreign journalists.”
In other suggested reading, Karl Rove and Michael Scott have seemingly a lot in common.
And this is the interview with Scranton, Pa., Mayor Chris Doherty greeted me at the outset of my early Sunday morning commute. Thanks to PRI for providing the embed code.
