And that day will be January 31, when “Smallville” returns with the first of six new episodes in a TV schedule riddled with repeats and crass reality shows.
First up is “Persona”: While Clark is frozen in the Fortress, Bizarro takes over his life with Lana. Not knowing she’s with the crazy creep, Lana enjoys the “new Clark” and shares info she’s gathered on a serial killer who’s draining his victims of all trace minerals. The duo decide that Brainiac must be doing the dirty deeds, so Bizarro sets off to find him. Elsewhere, Lex is stunned by Lionel’s reaction after “Daily Planet” editor Grant spills the beans that he’s a clone of Lionels dead son, Julian. And watch for a guest turn from Marc McClure, who played Jimmy Olsen in the Christopher Reeve big-screen flicks.
A later ep features the Green Arrow (right, with Clark), who was last in town a year ago to get the Justice League together. He’ll be tussling with a new “Smallville” character, the Black Canary. With a half dozen new installments left to run, the show must have started shooting early last July, before many other comedies and dramas went into production for the season. And for that we’re grateful.
