If you strike, I will attack you with the North: The Interwebs weigh in on Jim & Pam, labor strife and surviving a winter of Office discontent (part 2)

The Watercooler at NorthernAttack.com is about as good a place as you’ll find for heated debate, friendly banter and rampant Office fanaticism. It’s also where I turned when I wanted to take the pulse of the fandom about a writers strike that struck just when Jim and Pam had finally become an item.
This morning we heard from Linus, a.k.a. DwightfromtheFuture. Now it’s lemoñadé’s turn. Eunice, as she’s known in real life, is 27 and from Phoenix.
10 words or less: Which side do you support in the writers strike and why?
The writers because they deserve fair compensation for what they write.
Presumably you’re watching less TV than usual lately. What are you doing instead?
Reading some books and I find that I am spending way too much time on the internet. Also, who knew one could work out in the evening? Riveting.
Office fans waited two and a half years to see Jim and Pam get together. Two months later, the writers strike threatens to wash the season away. What do you think about that?
It upsets me that the AMPTP could have easily brought this strike to an end by compromising with the WGA but because of their stubbornness, we had to miss out on some good JAM moments. I think the writers are right in what they are doing and support them but I do miss my show.
Maybe you don’t care about Jim and Pam anymore. If that’s true, what are you missing the most with the show on unscheduled hiatus?
Aside from JAM, I am missing the laughter that Michael, Dwight and the rest of the Dunder-Mifflinites were bringing into my home. I was also looking forward to seeing what kind of character development Jim was going to go through this season since the earlier episodes made it seem like they were preparing him for something. Let me not forget to mention the Dwight/Angela/Andy dramedy. We are missing out on what those crazy kids are up to.
How’d you like the way things were going overall on the show when the strike hit?
I was honestly really enjoying season four. There were many laugh out loud moments and a lot of character development. It was nice to see Jim and Pam happy and the Nard-dog was shining bright in all that he was doing. The last episode they left us with was an amazing episode and it just left me hungry for more.
Would you rather see the strike end now and have the writers get back to work and put The Office back on for however many episodes they can squeeze in, or would you rather they scrap the season and turn their attention to returning strong in the fall, using the extra time to restore their creative juices?
Part of me wants them to wait until next year so they can get a whole story arc in and they get to tell the story they had planned. A bigger part of me (the more selfish part) would love for them to come back tomorrow and shoot what they have. I really do miss the show and am dying to see this famous Dinner Party episode that was supposed to be next and all the cast keeps saying was incredibly funny.
Bonus round: Fill in the blanks
- This strike sucks. Jeff Zucker should be sentenced to a year of According to Jim/My Two Dads/Blossom reruns for making this happen.
- Kelly and Darryl make such a great couple. They’re like the Brangelina of the northeast Pennsylvania paper distribution industry.
- I still can’t believe Michael followed his GPS into a lake. That’s the dumbest thing I’ve seen on TV since OJ’s high speed chase.
- Jan looked so much better this season, especially with her new chesticles and seeing her without a job.
- The strike has been particularly rough on my Office obsession. In fact, the strangest thing I’ve done since the hiatus began was fill out an office related questionaire for a blog.
