Northern attacking the writers strike: Office fans weigh in, Part 6

Whence last we caught up with Michelle, a.k.a Loaded Teapot, of Charlotte, N.C., the 36-year-0ld Office fan was putting her two cents in about what Season 4 might have to offer.
Teapot has been tooling around the Watercooler at NorthernAttack.com for nearly two years and probably holds the record for most new discussion threads initiated, each with a pithy, referential title. (The haiku thread is her piece of resistance, as the French say when they’re not speaking French.) But I digress, badly.
Here’s Teapot’s take on the strike.
(Part 6 of many. I – II – III – IV – V)
10 words or less: Which side do you support in the writers strike and why?
Not the writers. They’re already paid well. Suck it up.
Presumably you’re watching less TV than usual lately. What are you doing instead?
Reading, crafting, and finally cleaning the house. The Pergo install in a few weeks will take up a major chunk of time, and “Lost” starts on Thursday, so I’m totally fine with no new TV.
Office fans waited two and a half years to see Jim and Pam get together. Two months later, the writers strike threatens to wash the season away. What do you think about that?
I am totally satisfied (TWSS) knowing that Jim and Pam are together and happy, period. If we never see them again and we find out later that they moved to Costa Rica together to have babies and live in a grass hut, that’s fine. Of course, I’ll miss seeing Jim every week, but knowing that they’re happy and relatively drama-free would practically make up for that.
Maybe you don’t care about Jim and Pam anymore. If that’s true, what are you missing the most with the show on unscheduled hiatus?
See above.
How’d you like the way things were going overall on the show when the strike hit?
I liked it very much. It was funny again, and without the Jim and Pam angst from Season 3, I felt like it was returning to its “roots” of season 1 and 2.
Would you rather see the strike end now and have the writers get back to work and put The Office back on for however many episodes they can squeeze in, or would you rather they scrap the season and turn their attention to returning strong in the fall, using the extra time to restore their creative juices?
Option #2. Come back in the fall.
Bonus round: Fill in the blanks
- This strike sucks. All reality TV producers, creators and contestants should be sentenced to a year of According to Jim/My Two Dads/Blossom reruns for making this happen. Even though they didn’t really make it happen, I still vote that they be punished.
- Angela and Andy make such a great couple. They’re like the Brangelina of the northeast Pennsylvania paper distribution industry.
- I still can’t believe Michael followed his GPS into a lake. That’s the dumbest thing I’ve seen on TV since Jim and Karen. (Ed. note: Zing!)
- Kelly looked so much better this season, especially with her new breast-enhancing dress and seeing her without Ryan.
- The strike has been particularly rough on my Office obsession. In fact, the strangest thing I’ve done since the hiatus began was clean the bathroom.
