One day to ‘Lost:’ Prep with a pop-up finale!

Even a super-duper “Lost” fan like me could use a refresher course every now and then.
I was planning to get pumped for tomorrow’s Season 4 premiere by watching ABC’s rerun of May’s season finale, when we last left Jack and the rest of the crash survivors awaiting rescue from Naomi’s freighter. (Side note: I’m still thrilled to revisit the finale, even though I’ve already seen tomorrow’s premiere and next week’s episode. [Gleeful giggles.] Check back here tomorrow for my review!)
But here’s ANOTHER reason to tune in to tonight’s repeat: The two-hour Season 3 finale will be an “enhanced” version, with new clues and island back story popping up on the bottom of the screen. (For example, Ben used to be known as Henry Gale.)
Are they stealing the idea from VH1’s golden-oldie, “Pop-Up Video?”
Sure, but why is that a bad thing?
Don’t lie: You know you enjoyed finding out that Duran Duran ruined $20,000 of suits making their “Rio” video.
And come on, weren’t you just a wee bit interested to know that Madonna’s “Express Yourself” video was shot at the same California steam plant where part of “Die Hard 2” was filmed?
So I’m stoked to see what tidbits the “Lost” brain trust will offer as we catch up with the island folk: Perhaps we’ll find out who was in that coffin during the service where Jack was the lone attendant?
OK, I don’t really think they’ll let that cat out of the bag just yet.
But it doesn’t make me any less interested to watch tonight. And as this New York Times article explains, the pop-up strategy may help draw in new “Lost” viewers, who might have felt daunted by the show’s complex plots and back stories.
And in case you’d forgotten: It’s just one more day until “Lost” premieres!
I can’t wait to go back, Kate, I can’t wait to go BAAACKKK!!!
