Supernatural clips and news — this one's for you, Beth

January

Shunted aside in all the hoopla about Lost’s season premiere tomorrow night has been the fact that Supernatural returns with the first of four new episodes.

Now, I’ll be honest. I’ve never watched Supernatural, but it has a very loyal fanbase and it has always seemed to me to be one of those shows that I should like, but just have never gotten around to. With Beth (Lisibee of Jericho blogging fame) urging me to check it out, I have promised to rent Season 1 soon and do just that.

So with some news I scrounged up from the blogosphere about Supernatural, I thought I would share some clips Warner Brothers sent my way — two show clips, one a conversation with Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki.

Here’s the first clip, from tomorrow night’s episode, “Malleus Maleficarum”:

Buddy TV recently reported that despite the lack of Supernatural on its schedule after February, CW spokesman Paul McGuire told About.com that the network totally stood behind the show.

The CW is very supportive of Supernatural and continues to be. The show continues to deliver strong episodes viewers like yourself have embraced. The move to air encores of Reaper Thursdays at 9 is an attempt to get sampling for that show, which is in its first season, unlike Supernatural, which is a proven veteran.

Now, I have to say I’m happy Reaper is getting more exposure. It’s a criminally underrated show that’s pretty freakin’ funny. And pairing it with either Smallville or Supernatural seems a better fit than the Beauty and the Geek lead-in. But it will be going up against Lost for a few weeks until those episodes run out, so I don’t expect it’ll draw many viewers.

Here’s a second clip:

Then, Ducky Does TV recently posted the titles and air dates of the final four episodes (plus a bonus “encore” episode — remember when we called them reruns or repeats? — that’s airing, too):

Updated Jan. 22, 2007: Below is the most up to date schedule for the final 4 episodes of SUPERNATURAL. Note the episode swap for 3.11 and 3.12 (and the toss in of a repeat for good fun).

Episode 3.09 – “Malleus Maleficarumâ€? 1/31
Episode 3.10 – “Dream A Little Dream Of Meâ€? 2/7
Episode 3.11 – “Mystery Spotâ€? 2/14 (originally “Jus In Belloâ€? was to air on the 14th)
Repeat: “Nightshifter 2/21 8/7c (originally aired in Season 2)
Episode 3.12 – “Jus In Belloâ€? 2/21 9/8c (originally filmed as 3.11 but will air as possible finale)

Here’s the conversation with Ackles and Padalecki:

Amy, you spoil me, you really do. (And don't you dare stop! :D) Thanks so much for the Supernatural info!

And would someone PLEASE tell me what ABC was thinking when they moved LOST to Supernatural's time slot? What, they didn't think that LOST had enough viewers already, they had to go after the Supernatural fanbase, too?? The only thing that will keep my head from completely exploding on Thursdays at 9 is that The Office is now out of fresh episodes. My Thursday night viewing was already a complicated dance of watching live, watching online, and recording shows, but were all the shows still on right now it would be downright ridiculous.

Thank you, Amy, for helping poor, addicted Lisibee. Please do more of these articles to pacify her. LOL
