Your daily Jericho fix

More proof (like we needed any) that Jericho’s showrunners are the classiest group around.
After a long hiatus of no activity on the Jericho Production Blog, exec prod Jon Turteltaub posted a message yesterday. I’d had a link to it, but CBS today relaunched the Jericho site, and it looks a lot cleaner and nicer. I like it (though the ad at the top is really huge!), but I couldn’t find the production blog anymore. The old link didn’t work, and there was no link to it in the “Community” section, that I could find.
I’m glad I saved Turtletaub’s message in its entirety last night:
From Executive Producer Jon TurteltaubTo Our Fans:
This is Jon Turteltaub, Executive Producer, and I’m finally posting after all that has happened. Like everyone else, I have been completely overwhelmed and impressed with the campaign you led to save the show. It wasn’t just your passion, but your persistence that paid off. Last summer, I got a call from CBS saying they were being overrun with emails, phone calls, and peanuts. Then they asked me if I would help them to make it all go away. I pretended that my phone was dying and that I couldn’t hear a word. Eventually, I suggested what everyone suggested… PUT THE SHOW BACK ON!
After a lot of deliberating at the highest levels, CBS realized that the show that they themselves loved was more of a success than the research had led them to believe. So here we are with seven new episodes that start airing on February 12th. And I can honestly tell you, these are the best seven episodes we’ve made. (Except for the two I directed in season one, of course!) The show keeps getting better, mostly because we have listened to all of you… trying to give you more of what you love and less of what you didn’t. So this season of Jericho is 100% dedicated to all of you. This is YOUR show. We made it for you. And we hope our work is worthy of the support you have given us.
Now if each of you can find two or three million friends to watch it, we’ll be around for a long time.
Jon
I’m not even sure I can say anything intelligent to add to this.
“So this season of Jericho is 100% dedicated to all of you. This is YOUR show. We made it for you.”
This sounds totally corny, but even just reading that again gave me chills.
I love the fact that when CBS asked him for help in getting the fans off their back, he pretended his phone was dying.
From Dan Shotz stopping by Jeritopia unannounced the other day, to all the cast and crew who’ve given Shelby over at Jericho 4 Kids and other fans interviews, to Mike Loomer agreeing to guest at Jerichon, this is one freakin’ classy group of TV folks.
I don’t know about you, but I’m gonna call 2 million of my closest friends to sit down and watch on Feb. 12.
• Speaking of CBS’ site, they’re spotlighting various fans’ commentary, fan fiction, recaps and more on the home page. How do you get in on it? Check out this thread on the message boards. Basically, you need to create a public group (for multiple folks to blog together) or personal blog on Tumblr. Then post your Tumbleog address on the afore-linked-to thread and CBS will “re-post” the entries on the CBS site. Schumi was the template, but many others have joined up since. I’ve gotta say, CBS is figuring out how to make all this new-fangled media work for them.
• Canadian television, according to Media In Canada, has set premiere dates for Jericho. It’ll air at 10 p.m. Feb. 12 on CTV and at 8 p.m. Feb. 16 on Space, whatever that is. Even cooler: “CTV’s promo plans for Jericho include a multi-spot campaign that will kick off during the Super Bowl broadcast this Sunday.” (Helpfully pointed out by Jericho-Kansas.com.)
• Here’s a couple of cool Jericho videos: “It’s Not Over,” a Jake/Heather (yay!) ode, music by Chris Daughtry. “Lonely No More,” an homage to Stimi, music by Rob Thomas. (Thanks, Jane.)
• Yahoo TV has a Jericho channel. (Thanks terocious.)

Thanks Amy!! Keep it coming! I’m more excited than I’ve been in months.
Ditto what Jane said! I’m just so pumped up right now! I have to say that CBS has been promoting like crazy this week on t.v. WOOHOO!
Thanks, Amy! Exciting stuff!
