Your daily Jericho fix (Monday, T minus 8 days and counting)

Jeritopia has the live Jericho chats you want this week in advance of Season 2.
At 10 p.m. EST tonight (Monday, Feb. 4), townsperson Jennie Sword will be online for a chat. Who’s Jennie Sword? Check out Jericho Monster’s two-part interview with her, here and here. She was on many episodes of Jericho, and she told Jane that she was treated very well as a background worker, especially compared with other experiences she’d had. Gee. Why am I not surprised that the cast and crew of Jericho turned out to be a class act?
Then, and this is a big one (no offense, Jennie!), Executive Producer Carol Barbee will stop by for a live Q&A session at 11 p.m. EST Wednesday (Feb. 6). It’ll be a hosted chat, so that the questions don’t just fly fast and furious without letting Carol actually answer them. Details here and on Jeritopia.
UPDATE: Matt Federman, part of the team who wrote Season 1 eps Rogue River and Semper Fidelis (and a writer for Season 2), will be online at Jeritopia at 10 p.m. Thursday.
Unrelated topic: I feel I must say something about Saturday’s debate on Jeather or Jemily.
As I stated right off the bat, I come down on Heather’s side in the issue. But I don’t feel as strongly anti-Emily as it seems many others do. I think I’m kinda like kricka — once upon a time, I really didn’t like Emily much. But look. Jake was the love of her life. He left town immediately after her brother was killed, and no one had even heard of him for five years. I can’t blame her for pushing Jake away at first, but I can’t blame her for still harboring feelings about him and for taking advantage of the opportunity to fulfill what their relationship had once promised.
I just think that, in this phase of their lives, Heather is the far superior potential mate for Jake. Someone mentioned in the debate that Heather always needed to be rescued, but I don’t think that’s true.
I think both Emily and Heather are both extremely resourceful women, each in her own way. I should be so lucky that after a nuclear attack on American soil, I could conduct myself as calmly and intelligently as either of the women (especially Heather!).
OK, onto the rest of the day in Jericho fan-dom:
• Head on over to Jericho Junction and vote in his poll about whether the CBS message boards have been subjected to indecent posts. It’s three questions. You have the time.
• All the fan Tumblr blogs (click on that link if you want to find out how to get your own) are great, but I have to single out Rubber Poultry’s for a simple reason: This man has produced so much fantastic graphic art for the show that it’s unbelievable. And now he’s sharing his expertise on what software to use and how to best (and most easily) use it to create your own Jericho art. He even provides links to all the software programs, free and otherwise. Speaking of class acts….
• Another Tumblr blog, Promoting Jericho, by KayT (mom of Jericho4Kids’ Shelby!), is starting a Jericho treasure hunt this week. Kystorms graciously donated a Season 1 DVD set as the prize. The hunt will begin at the CBS site and travel throughout Jericho webdom. Treasure hunters will have to look for clues at each location and post on the CBS boards. Keep your eyes on Promoting Jericho and the boards for more details.
• Show Magazine had a great article about Jericho, its cancellation and its resurrection. One interesting tidbit shared there — such a resurrection has succeeded just four times previously at CBS: Cagney & Lacey, Designing Women, Touched by an Angel and The Magnificent Seven. It also worked for Roswell fans with The WB and, he points out, perhaps the most famous resurrection is a little show called Star Trek in the 1960s, which was about to be canceled. Fans got a third and final season, multiple spinoffs (years later, but still …) and how many movies now? Hey, if Jericho only got four seasons but managed a post-life like Star Trek’s, I’d be OK with that. My favorite quote from the article, after mentioning that all the actors have agreed to keep themselves available, should a third season be picked up: “I think I’m obligated to the fans to continue to tell the story as long as they want to hear it.”
• Here’s some more Jericho vids to whet your appetite: City Slicker: Mimi doesn’t always get Jericho. Skeet Talks About Season 1, from the official CBS YouTube page. Jericho Instrumental: Self-explanatory; the song is from the movie Castaway.

Another great round up of what’s going on in the online world of Jericho Amy. I love stopping by here everyday.

“I just think that, in this phase of their lives, Heather is the far superior potential mate for Jake. Someone mentioned in the debate that Heather always needed to be rescued, but I don’t think that’s true.”
I agree with both statements. I also think that Heather’s inherent goodness could go a long way toward redeeming our tortured hero. Of course, in the end, he’s got to redeem himself, but the love of a good woman…
