‘IDOL’ SPOILER ALERT! Top 24 can’t hide (very well) behind Simon masks

February

Fox’s PR site has had a photo of what the network claims to be the Top 24 contestants for Season 7 of “American Idol.” Unless this is a ruse, it’s pretty easy to figure out quite a few of the contestants, who can’t hide completely behind Simon Cowell masks.

UPDATE: You want added legitimacy to the spoiler? It’s been removed from the Fox PR site. Either the network’s taking great lengths to put on a scam or this post just got a lot more credible!

Click this link ONLY if you want to join me in trying to figure out who’s made the final cut. Otherwise, tune in to Wednesday’s episode to find out who made it. OK, you’ve been warned.

Here’s the Fox-sanctioned photo of this season’s Top 24. Click on the photo to get a larger view, then click the back button to guess along with me. Or right-click it to open the larger version in a new window.

Could that be Robbie Carrico (the “Simple Kind of Man” who got doused by silly-string) in the lower left corner? His hair’s an obvious clue.

And just above those blond locks, is that Chikezie Eze, whose Luther Vandross song was one of the few highlights of the best-of-the-rest filler episode?

Bottom row, fourth from the left: I’m guessing kickboxing, horse-loving, sweet-singing Kristy Lee Cook. And if that masked woman is one of the other of the finalists’ many featured blondes (perhaps Brooke White?), you can bet almost anything KLC is one of the others pictured.

To her left (and our right): The skin tone, hair and attitude seem to be all Syesha Mercado (audition song: Aretha Franklin’s “Think”). She’s one of my early faves, so I’m definitely on board if she is.

I’ve got three more guesses involving contestants standing next to each other in the top row, starting with the guy in all black, immediately front of the middle wall seam: Michael Johns (the Aussie who sang Otis Redding), David Archuleta (the former Star Search contestant who sang John Mayer) and Carly Smithson formerly known as Carly Hennessy (the Irish lass who sang Whitney Houston)—I mean, come on, the tattoo sleeve is a dead give-away. All three were all pretty spiffy in the San Diego auditions, so game on.

UPDATE: Maybe that’s Danny Noriega instead of David Archuleta? Funny that they have similar body types, considering they their names have the same iambic pattern, first initial and last letter.Â

Who else do you think is in this alleged Top 24 photo? And don’t just give names—try to align names with positions in the photo so we all can play along.

Ah, good one! I’d intended to look for his highlighted hair, but forgot.

  3. David Cook

Yeah it does look like David is the 6th to the right

Jason Castro is EASY to spot

You know, DC, I don’t remember seeing Jason Castro on the show. Was I napping? How’d I miss him?

Anyway, I was tearing my non-dreadlocked hair out trying to figure out who that guy was, considering how obvious a clue his hair is. Thankfully, you knew his name.

  5. David Cook

They actually showed him about 3 times during the Dallas auditions. They never showed him on camera, but he was in the background a bunch of times…then at the end when they showed who made it through.

  6. Adina

The rocker chick is 2nd from the left on the back row.

  7. Andrew

Asia Eppersomething is the short girl second from the right
