Splitsvilles on “Smallville”

February
8

Can you say “awkward”? That’s what Lana and Clark felt in last night’s ep when he joined her in the Kent farm kitchen and she said a stiff “Good morning” and he replied with a stilted “Hi.” clark-and-oliver.jpgThings got really unpleasant when Clark pointed out that she told Bizarro Clark (BC) that she loved him while, unbeknownst to her, the Real Clark (RC) was imprisoned in the Fortress. The “conversation” finally came to a head when she told RC that BC was more understanding and affectionate. Earth (or Krypton—take your pick) to Clark! As I mentioned last week, it’s time for him to loosen up, because Lana has shipped out, at least temporarily.

Elsewhere in the world of romance, Lois finally found out, courtesy of the Black Canary’s ridiculous screech, that Oliver is also the Green Arrow. Then, almost identical to what Margot Kidder’s Lois told Christopher Reeve’s Clark at the end of “Superman II,” Lois told Oliver that she could no longer date him because she didn’t want to share him with the rest of the world. Her father, the general, put the army before her, and she didn’t want to again be left behind in the life of someone she dearly loved. I hear ya, Lo. He’s always traveling and you would be spending every night wondering (i.e., worrying) where Oliver/The Green Arrow was.

Also, some ugly truths were revealed: Chloe reminded Clark that Lana isn’t the same innocent little girl that she was back at Smallville High and her needs have changed. And Oliver told Clark that, unlike himself, Clark “hangs out on the couch” instead of being proactive against injustice. Bruised egos on both counts!

And who exactly is this Black Canary chick? All she has is excellent aim with sharp knives, good rapelling skills and the ability to shatter all of the glass in Oliver’s pad and make Clark’s ears bleed. I won’t mourn if she never comes back.

A few more questions: Why is Lana all of a sudden wearing reading glasses? Why didn’t we ladies get more time to ogle over a shirtless Oliver? Why does Lionel only suspect that Lex was behind Julian/Grant’s murder? He should know that he could bet his life’s savings that his conniving son had everything to do with it. Why doesn’t Martha ever drop by? I miss her. (And Jonathan too, but he’s dead.)

I agree with most of your comments but people should no that annette didn’t leave on the best of terms with the show so i don’t think she would want to come back, and that is a shame, but the truth and the same with john schneider besides that he is making collier and company 2 and is on broadway right now, i miss them too though..~
