The popular ABC dance-off announced its new lineup for Season 6 last night, and Bedford’s own Marissa Jaret Winokur is among the semi-celebrities who’ll be strutting their stuff.
Winokur, 35, won a Tony for creating the role of Tracy Turnblad in the Broadway hit “Hairspray.” (You know, the musical that came between the John Waters’ movie and the John Travolta movie based on the musical.)
Since then, she was in the short-lived Pamela Anderson comedy, “Stacked” (which actually wasn’t as horrible as you might think). And she just completed a new CBS pilot, “Fugly.” (No word yet on a pick-up.)
So now she’ll be hoofin’ it across the dance floor with the likes of Marlee Matlin and Priscilla Presley. At least we know that Winokur’s got the stamina to make it through a lively number—unlike last season’s rag-doll Marie Osmond.
Go here to learn more about the rest of the stars, but here’s the short run-down of the participants:
• Adam Carolla, 43, actor and radio personality.
• Shannon Elizabeth, 34, actress best known for her role in the “American Pie” movies.
• Cristián de la Fuente, 33, Chilean actor who’s been seen on “Ugly Betty” and “CSI: Miami”
• Steve Guttenberg, 49, actor and star of the “Police Academy” movies.
• Penn Jillette, 52, actor and magician.
• Mario, 21, R&B singer
