Fox series are coming back soon

Fox announced its post-writer’s strike return dates for its series and confirmed beyond any shadow of any doubt the horrible news that 24 won’t come back until next January (as reported previously here). It’s not clear how many new episodes Fox will have of each of these, but as you can see, Fox is endeavoring to ensure that everyone is as confused as possible as to the actual return dates of anything, by airing most shows at least once before settling them in to their time periods.

I’m publishing the info as given by Fox, because to rewrite it would be even more confusing, I think. Brand-new, midseason shows also are included in here:

Back to You:
Tuesday, Feb. 26 (9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT) Original episode
Wednesday, Feb. 27 (9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT) Original episode
Wednesday, April 16 (8:30-9:00 PM ET/PT) Time period premiere with originals

Unhitched:
Sunday, March 2 (9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT) Series premiere

New Amsterdam:
Tuesday, March 4 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) Series preview
Thursday, March 6 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) Series preview
Monday, March 10 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) Time period premiere

Canterbury’s Law:

(previously scheduled to premiere April 14 at 9 p.m.)

The Return of Jezebel James:
Friday, March 14 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) Special one-hour series premiere
Friday, March 21 (8:30-9:00 PM ET/PT) Time period premiere

‘Til Death:
Tuesday, March 25 (9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT) Original episode
Wednesday, April 16 (8:00-8:30 PM ET/PT) Time period premiere with originals

Hell’s Kitchen:
Tuesday, April 1 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) Season premiere

Bones:
Monday, April 14 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) Time period premiere with originals

House:
Monday, April 21 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) Time period premiere with encore
Monday, April 28 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) Originals begin

In addition, American Dad, Family Guy and The Simpsons are returning to production, though they hadn’t run out of episodes yet.

Buried in the midst of all this was this sentence:

24 will also return to conclude production on its seventh season, but the Emmy-winning series starring Kiefer Sutherland will not premiere until January 2009, allowing the drama to once again run 24 episodes consecutively.

BAH! No 24 for another year!?? Boo on FOX. If we have to wait two years for a fresh season of 24, then it better be awesome on a level that we have never seen (and I'm not holding my breath on that!).

Fox is taking an extra year hoping that we will all forget how bad the last season of 24 was.

If they were smart, they'd forsake the nonstop season and just post the first few episodes in September. Having to wait two years for a new season of anything kills a show's fanbase and raises expectations to unfair levels.
