'Lost' fans, rejoice! We're gonna find out who's in the coffin…

February

God bless EW’s Doc Jensen.

The creator of some of the craziest, most literate theories about “Lost” had a sit-down with the two lead producers and came away with some of the biggest show scoop gathered in a single interview.

Go here to read the entire exchange, but I’ll break down the highlights for you below.

Personally, I think the greatest news is hearing that we’re definitely going to find out WHO the HECK was in that gosh-darned coffin before the end of THIS season!

Whew. I didn’t realize I cared so much. (And click here to debate who you think it is…)

Anyway, here’s the bullet points of Jensen’s head-to-head-to-head with Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindeof:ben2.jpg

• Ben’s hit list from last week’s episode is connected to the underwater wreckage of 815 and who put it there.

• Ben could be a member of the Oceanic 6. Sure, he wasn’t on Flight 815, but Lindelof says you never know when it comes to Ben’s ingenuity. (Editorial note: I tend to doubt this reasoning; no one ever said others besides the Sixers could get off the island.)

• We will find out by episode 7 (Mar. 13) the identities of the entire Oceanic 6.

• The overarching theme this season is why some of the castaways leave the island, and why some stay. We should learn the reasons—or some of them—by the season finale.
• Time travel is important to unraveling the island’s mysteries, but alternate realities are not. The producers say that would undermine the audience’s stake in the characters’ fate. More on time travel next week (Feb. 28) in a Desmond-centric episode.

bracelet.jpg•  That bracelet from last week? The one that seemingly connected Naomi and Elsa? Sorry, say the producers. Just a (conveniently placed) accessory. (And a bit scary that “Lost” fans sometimes analyze the show more than the writers.)

• That eyeball Hurley saw in Jacob’s cabin? Definitely important. But we probably won’t find out who it belongs to, or what’s up with Jacob’s vanishing cabin until later in the series.  Same for more on island mythology like the Purge.

And if you’re not interested in spoilers, don’t read ahead.

That’s because Ain’t It Cool News is reporting that tonight’s Kate episode, “Eggtown,” may show us how an original survivor meets his or her demise in the future…

Have fun overanalyzing that one—and check back here tomorrow to discuss!

    Heather,
I missed last week'sep because of Valentine's day and am so pumped that I've got a steak, abrew and two hours of "Lost" entertainment tonight. Question: Any chance that we'll get more than 8 eps this season and how will the shortened season affect the Season 4 DVD set? The season 3 was dope. Ciao!

farmfan—I believe it has been announced that there will be five additional episodes of Lost (after the eight that have already been filmed).

For additional interesting disclosures, a "must listen" is the Official Lost Podcast—Lindelof and Cuse have returned to the weekly audio podcast and said some real interesting stuff—they are also very entertaining.

Biggest spoiler in the podcast this week: The cow's name!

They also reveal that Tunisia is a landlocked country—much to the dismay of the Tunisians with a view of the Mediterranian (Tunisia is between Libya and Algeria and across the Med from Italy). T

Thanks, Chuck. I was hoping we'd get more than just the eight.
